What if?
What if Nightwing came in to the cave just after Little D and The Bat had a good conversation. A conversation that did not necessarily contain of many words but led to a mutual understanding. What if as he stood there The Bat put his hand on the boy's shoulder. Would Nightwing feel a bit of nostalgia? Would he, being the brother/father figure he is to Little D, sigh slightly and sense that things would be okay between the two strong bats in front of him? What if The Big Guy at that moment gave his son a hug. A hug that was reciprocated by the boy. Would Nightwing be proud of the two of them? Thinking they had both came a long way? Perhaps he would be a bit surprised when he heared the "I love you son" AND the mutual response. Maybe he would feel a sting of envy, not that he would ever admit it. What if as soon as Little D headed for the changing room The Bat came over to Nightwing and put a hand on his shoulder, would Nightwing be amused? What if Bruce at that moment gave him a hug and sad "I love you too son". Would he have been so surprised, or even shocked that he would not have reacted until the Bat was gone? Not said a word or even hugged him back?
