Mei was racing though the cave as fast as she could. The Death Mages were going to set the bomb off any minute, and Fairy Tail would be nothing more. The only thing that could save her guild now is if she could find the rest of her team. They, too were going to be blown to bits, unless she could levitate the debris all together. It's said to be impossible and highly dangerous to even attempt levitating more than one object, but Mei was willing to do anything to keep her team safe.
"Mei! Down here!"
Lucy's voice echoed down the cave. Mei turned around and felt a wave of relief wash over her. Natsu, Erza, Lucy, Wendy, Carla, Happy and Gray were running down the ice cave. She started off after them, but stopped mid way as she heard a deep rumble, and the cave started shaking.
The bomb was going off. Before anyone registered the situation quick enough to react, little pebbles and rocks blew out of the dark tunnel from where Mei had been running from. The sharp edges of the debris sliced her body, and it was going to do much worse if she didn't start her plan now.
She knew what she had to do. The rocks where quickly growing larger, and soon they would severly injure everyone. Mei focused all her energy on them, and a brilliant blue magic circle appeared underneath her feet, illuminating her.
"Mei! You're going to hurt yourself! Stop!", Happy's frantic voice echoed.
"Mei! Stop!", Erza and Natsu screamed.
But she couldn't stop. She had to save Fairy Tail and stop the remaining Death Mages. They wouldn't leave their cave hideout until they were sure no on was alive inside of it and then they'd moved on to the guild.
Mei had never felt worse pain then the agonizing pounding on her head. She was getting dizzier, but still, she kept sending the now boulder-sized rocks back where they had came from. Her cries of pain echoed throughout the cave, making her head ache more.
Then, when she thought everyone could be safe, a hugmongous boulder, as big as the Fairy Tail guild itself, rocketing down to cave, heading straight towards her.
"MEI! YOU CAN'T DO IT! IT'S IMPOSSIBLE AND YOUR GOING TO KILL YOURSELF!", Grey's horrified plead bounced around her mind.
"It's for you, my sweet Gray.", she whispered, holding back tears. He was right. There was no way she could avoid death now. But Mei would die happy, knowing she saved her guild. With the little strength she had left, her body disagreeing to use anymore precious energy, Mei stopped the boulder in mid-air.
Finally, the massive boulder flew backwards. She was about to collapse onto the cold rocky floor, when she felt two muscular arms catch her and cradle her. She could barely make out who it was, as her surroundings were getting fuzzier and darker, but she heard him crying and she knew who was holding her.
"Grey,", she whispered, "Did I do it?"
"Yes.", Grey replied, as he exhaled a shakey breath, "You didn't have to, Mei. None of us wanted you to."
In the background, she saw Lucy cry into Natsu's chest. Natsu was trying not to cry, but he hugged Lucy tightly and let the tears come out. That's the only thing she ever wanted with Gray. But now she was dying in his arms, not cuddling.
"Grey,", Mei squeaked, breathing with all her might, "I'll see you again one day."
Grey's eyes widened. "No, Mei.", he said, picking her up, "We're getting you back to the guild and-"
But Mei didn't hear the rest. She heard another rumbling from the other end of the cave and fell into the dizzying blackness surrounding her.
