Hey! My first Harry Potter fanfic, so go easy! Or if you don't want to, don't...

This is right after the war in Deathly Hallows, after Harry, Ron, and Hermione talk to the photo of Dumbledore. Ginny's POV, mostly.

Italics indicate Ginny's thinking.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Harry Potter Series or any of the characters

Enjoy! :)

A HarryxGinny One-Shot

Ginny didn't know where Ron was. She didn't know where Hermione was. Most of all, she didn't know where Harry was. And she was tired of waiting.

It was the bloody END of the war for god's sake! Where WERE they? If they were celebrating without her, well, you wouldn't want to see the end of that….

At last, she saw them come down from the Headmaster's office. First she looked at Ron. He had a funny expression on his face, like HE was the one who got caught stealing a cookie from the cookie jar. Then she looked at Hermione, who was blushing like mad. Puzzled for a moment, Ginny looked at their hands, and found them locked together in a tight embrace. Ginny smiled. She knew it would happen sooner or later.

Finally, Ginny looked up into Harry's eyes and found that he was already gazing at her. Her heart fluttered as she slowly ambled over to him. Her face was glowing. When they met, they didn't speak at all. They just lightly held each other's hands, and looked down at the ground. Ginny, being the more forward of the two, picked up her head and stroked her fingertips against Harry's cheek.

It feels so good to finally be close to him again, to hold his hand.

"I've missed you," Ginny began, her voice barely a whisper but strong. "There's no reason to be afraid anymore. He's gone."

Harry sighed. "He's gone. You're right." He paused, but his voice continued, wary, "So I guess you're going to yell at me, and smack me, telling me how much of a bloody prat I've been." Harry paused again, but the expression in his eyes changed. "And I probably deserve every minute of it. I'm sorry I couldn't be with you. I was trying to do what was the best for us."

One of his hands were in her soft red hair, another on the small of her back. He brought her into a hug, closing the small space between them.

Ginny let out a small smile. "You know, it's going to be hard trying to date a guy who saved the Wizard World, and tries to be a responsible adult when he just got out of school." She giggled, but continued with her small speech. "But, I wouldn't have any other person." She stretched up from her tip-toes to her neck to lay a light kiss on his scarred cheek.

"You missed," Harry said with a mischievous look in his eyes.

"Huh?"

"You missed," Harry repeated, and leaned down and crushed his lips against hers. It could have been hours, or days, or years until the kiss ended, but it was too passionate to tell. Somehow, Ginny's soft fingertips ended up in the mess of Harry's hair, pulling their faces closer. The one hand on the small of Ginny's back pushed them together, and the other was wound into her hair.

After the kiss broke, Ginny looked around and saw Ron and Hermione staring at them. Don't you have something better to do than see me and Harry make out? Ginny thought. Apparently, the thought was clear in her eyes, and Hermione immediately grabbed Ron's wrist and pulled him out of view, who was baffled and mumbling something like, "So they're snogging already? Do they ever take a break to breathe?"

Ginny rolled her eyes and looked at Harry, who had also seen the entire thing. When he looked back at her, they instantly cracked into a loud roll of guffaws.

Harry bent down and Ginny stretched up, so their foreheads where touching.

"Don't even leave me again," Ginny whispered. "Promise?"

"Promise," Harry agreed.

And they closed the space between them, their humorous postures breaking into a tight embrace.
