L sighed. It was raining. He could hear it drumming on the roof of his hotel. His curtains were closed. Rain was distracting. Of course the most favorable weather would be distracting. L sighed again. He needed to finish this case before six in the morning. That was the deal. The murderer was so predictable and L wondered if the police was so stupid to not figure it out by themselves. Was that thunder?
The lights flickered. At least it's not a blackout-
Everything went black. He should've just focused on his computer, which is currently off. Perfect.
The door creaked. What a great moment to be bothered by his most annoying nuisance, Beyond Birthday. L heard quiet shuffles of bare hesitant feet.
"L?" Even unsure, his voice creeped him out.
"What is it, Backup?"
"I told you not to call me that." Beyond was closer now and he sounded annoyed.
"What brings you to my room, Backup?" L couldn't help but get on every person's nerves. It was far too much fun.
L could almost see Beyond scowl in the dark. "I thought you would get lonely. Here in the dark." Beyond's voice sounded suspiciously soothing. He was undoubly up to something. There was a 98% chance of it.
"No thank you. I'm fine."
"But I'm a bit lonely." Beyond whispered suddenly at the detective's ear.
"Go find someone else." L doesn't know why he snapped at the teen. He actually found being with Beyond comforting.
"I never feel lonely when I'm with you…" L felt spidery finger, which smelt of strawberry jam, trail along his cheek. He could hardly keep his breath level.
L turned slowly towards his guest, a finger barely touching his face. Blood red eyes glowed of an unrecognizable emotion. L saw no way to argue with Beyond. Did he really want him to leave? Both were still.
"I have strawberry jam. If you'd like." The detective's monotone voice broke the silence.
"I would. Thank you, L."
L lower one foot at a time, finally stood up and shuffled as quietly as he could. Why was he so nervous? Beyond was just a kid. Ok, he was a very creepy kid, but that didn't bother L. so why? L made his way to the fridge. As he reached for his jam the lights turned on.
"I'll be going!" Beyond's voice sounded flustered. And L heard hurried foot steps run out the door.
"Beyond! Wait!" L could only catch a flash of a seemingly blood stained white shirt before any traces of anyone other than L himself were left.
L sighed.
