So, I wanted to write a oneshot, cause I didn't get any new reviews for Love Story yet, so I'm waiting for those before that gets updated. I have another oneshot I hope to post by sunday. I'm also working on another Happy chapter, this one may be sad, but I promise it has a happy ending. The idea is from the song Open Your Eyes by Snow Patrol. We discussed the song and what we thought it meant in American Lit. and Some kids had some amazing meanings and they really inspired me.
I want so much to open your eyes
'Cause I need you to look into mine.
3 a.m.
Seventeen year old Riley, paced the hospital floor nervously. It was a call and response gone horribly awry. He had asked for a sign what he wasn't expecting, was a board to fly down and knock KC unconscious. The doctors said she should be fine, except for some memory lose, once and if she woke up. She had been out for three hours now, and he was starting to get nervous. He blamed himself, he was the one doing call and response, he should have been the one knocked out. He sighed before grabbed the seat next to a sleeping Sam. Jackie had currently been in KC's room "talking" to her. Her parents had been called, but they had gone to New York for the weekend, leaving guardianship to the Litmans until the could get a flight home in the early morning hours. Riley's parents were also asleep in the waiting room's horrible chairs, well Zach had chosen a comfortably spot on the floor. Riley decided to head towards KC's room. He silently opened the door, he tip toed in too a read to crash Jackie.
"Hey Jackie," he whispered.
"Yes," she said surprised.
"I can stay here if you want to try to get some sleep in the waiting room."
"That sounds good with me, I'm falling asleep," she said heading out the door.
"Hey KC," he said picking up her hand.
"I feel like this is all my fault. I should have been the one that got hurt."
"Please KC, wake up," he said squeezing her hand.
"Tell me, that you'll open your eyes, please," he said keeping his hand on hers. For a second he thought he felt her squeeze his hand back.
"I guess the doctors said there is a fifteen percent chance that you'll never wake up. So just in case you do fall to the fifteen percent chance, I just want you to know I love you," he said tears forming in his eyes. He blinked the tears away quickly, he still held her hand in his. He stared at there hands semi intertwined. He looked back it her "sleeping" peacefully. He could feel her grip on his hand becoming tighter. He felt it was a sign, she was going to be alright. He smiled before slowly drifting to sleep.
He was awoken at six, by Sam saying her parents flight just left and they'd be here as soon as possible.
"Want to go get some food or coffee with Jackie? I can stay here."
"No why don't you go, I'll stay bring me some coffee though," he said getting up out of the Chair. He paced around the room for a few minutes, before turning his attention back to KC. He sat down again, and took a hold of her hand once more.
"Please KC, hope your eyes, for me," and just like that her eyes fluttered open.
"Hi Riley," she smiled her voice coarse.
"I missed you," he said.
"Where was I," she asked.
"In a coma, for six hours."
"Well that sounds fun," she smiled.
"We've been here all night."
"I know."
"Do you want anything, I actually think I'm supposed to get a nurse if you wake up."
"I don't want anything, and don't get a nurse yet I have a question first."
"What's that?"
"Did I dream it, or did you actually say you loved me?"
"So you could hear me," he said nervously.
"It's ok Riley."
"Really?"
"Yes, because I feel the same way," she smiled and said.
"So should we see about that nurse now?"
"Not just yet."
"I really should go get one."
"Lean over first," she smiled again.
"Why?"
"Stop playing stupid," she said as he leaned down and kissed her.
So, it ended happy.
