Silence is Golden

I'm not talking much.

It's kind of like a floodgate-something one dare not open lest they get swept away by the flood along with everyone else. Everyone, in this case, meaning Kendra and Hammond. I've barely said a word to them and despite the two acting as sane as the situation on the Ishimura allows, I can tell what they're thinking about me. Nerdy engineer, social skills nil, doesn't know how to interact with people…jackasses.

Hey guys-want to know why I'm not talking much? There's a few reasons.

Firstly, every time I talk, it's a chance for one of those monsters to hear me and consequently see me and of course, attack me. There's not much I can do about the seeing and attacking-only my plasma cutter can rectify that problem. But at least with hearing I can be a bit more quiet. Sure, my boots going "clunk clunk clunk" all the time doesn't do me any favors, but my voice doesn't have to add to it.

Secondly, I'm out of breath. Yeah, think about that. Hammond, you're on the bridge, Kendra, you're somewhere in a computer room and here I am running up and down a spaceship, one of the largest humanity's ever constructed. I'm not one of those fat slobs that live on Shalanx III, but there's a limit to my endurance. It gets tiring when I'm always going from point a to b to carry out objective c. Objectives that you guys are all so happy to give rather than…oh, I don't know, doing it yourselves!

And the third reason-if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

Considering this ship and the things and people on it, I shouldn't have to explain that point…

It's definately a plus IMO that Isaac speaks in Dead Space 2 but I have to say, I kind of miss the "do this, do that" format from the original game, how it gave it a sense of momentum whilst Dead Space 2 didn't really have such a structure, how we had a vague inkling as to how close Isaac was getting to the marker. Win some, lose some I guess.
