A/N: I wrote a bad fanfiction. It was terrible. The worst ever. So I cut it to pieces, and this is what's left.

It Wasn't Meant To Be

A being such as he was a rarity. He lived in a fleeting way, spending most of his time as someone else.

His name was Yue.

He'd been created by a wizard, and had fallen in love with that same wizard.

But it was not to be.

Clow had died. However, before doing so, he'd chosen to leave his creations in the care of somebody else. Keroberos was to volunteer the next master, and Yue was to judge them.

Yue didn't want a new master.

He vowed to never judge anybody worthy.

That was until he met Sakura. If there was anybody who could be as kind and compassionate as Clow had been, it would be her.

Yue felt himself falling again.

But she had another. A boy her age, who loved her as deeply as Yue did. Yue had already lost Clow—could he stand to lose this love as well?

With her, he'd felt more than he ever thought was possible.

Could he give her up for this boy? Or would he take her, and leave the boy as broken as he himself had been? He felt it all rested with him, and he realised why.

He was the judge.

He knew that if Sakura was to choose, she would choose Syaoran—the person meant to be with her.

He was a being that didn't have to exist. He could spend all of his time as somebody else. He didn't have to feel anything. He could live, without living.

He could survive losing the one he loved, as he had done before. Syaoran could not.

The paradox of it all was that he knew he would've been selfish and sacrificed Syaoran's feelings for his own, had he not met Sakura and changed because of her.

But if he'd never met her, he would have never even had the choice to begin with.

Like having two paths to choose from, but finding that they both lead to the same place anyway.

In the end, it just wasn't meant to be.
