"I don't know what I'm going to do" he said, a sense of despair and hopelessness in the man's voice. "What do you think I should try?".
Sherlock considered his response. "Well" he began. "I think for a start you need to consider your position". He looked up from his stance by the fireplace, leaning on the solid wooden mantelpiece.
The subject of his response looked over from where he lay on a leather sofa. The other man sighed and stood up. "Well, I guess that's all the time we have today" he said. "Shall we arrange for the same time next week?".
"If we must" Sherlock was far from enthusiastic in his agreement. He turned and left the room. The other man replaced his thin wire rimmed glasses, went over to the desk and examined his paperwork. He checked a list of appointments, then pressed an intercom button.
"Mark" he said. "Can you send in my next appointment please?".
Sherlock emerged from the building which housed the counselling session and emerged into a bright and crisp cold London afternoon. John was standing by the steps that led down from the door, checking his watch.
"How many more of these sessions do you have to go to?" he asked. Sherlock thought for a moment.
"Just until the court order expires" he answered, turning the collar of his coat up against the biting wind. He headed off towards the main road in search of a taxi.
