Au Revoir
The setting sun, its crimson death.
I turn my back, its rays upon me,
clawing at my soul,
its grip tightening painfully
When will I ever be free?
The glaring rays,
tt stings my eyes
and I stare so hard,
I start to cry
The smile falters
I squint and frown
Maybe there's a truth beyond
Maybe one day it can be found.
Its final warmth
Before extinguishing
I'll see it again
and again
facing it again and again. Till my truth is found
Till its light
banishes the dark.
so the shadows of losing you
Can finally depart.

Written in contemplation of the setting sun. There's something about the setting sun which really hits a chord deep in me, and somehow, I was reminded of the scene where Kenshin had buried the bodies, and Shinta died, because Hiko Seijuro had found the heart of sword. This poem can refer to anyone who has ever lost someone they love, be it Shinta losing his newly found friends, Seta Soujiro losing Shishio, Kaoru losing her beloved father, or even Sano losing his father figure. It is never easy to let go, so that's why living is more painful than dying, because you have to keep on bearing the burden of memories.
I seem to be on a roll getting out so many poems ne? Maybe it's the change in environment, since I'm not in my homeland now, I feel so much more relaxed, and the poems just flow out of me.
To my reviewers,
Fuuko-san: I hope that you'll like this poem and review it too!!!
Shinomori no Kami Daiji: thanks so much for the encouragement! I'll try to write up something more on Aoshi, especially on that musing of mine, but right now, there's no inspiration as much as I try. DOSHIO???? I'll keep trying though!
Gochan: Well, personally I prefer short poems, only really good poets can make me read looong ones and not get bored! Domo arigato for the appreciation you show for my poems, I'll try to come out with more apt poems and hopefully they won't be too OOC for you!
And last, but definitely NOT LEAST,
Chiki: thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!! Your support for my poems really means a lot to me. I never really believed that I had the ability or the 'talent' to write, and you can not imagine how encouraged I feel when you review my poems. I hope that this poem will be as well received by you as the previous poems of mine. Thank you so very much for your support.
