Sira's challenge: Alright, next I want a Chakotay centric drabble about his feelings when Kathryn is on Quarra. :D

Brownie points if it covers his feelings when he sees she's happy with another man.

So is this how it should be?

Chakotay was surprised at the jealousy that surged through him, when Kathryn stood before him with that strange alien and told him, that she would move in with that said man, which obviously was named Jaffen. By now, Chakotay had thought he would have been over her. But then again…could someone ever be over a woman like her?

He settled in a nearby booth, hidden from their sight, but still he was able to watch them. He waved Tom, who wanted to know if he would like to place an order, away impatiently and observed how Jaffen took Kathryn's hand in his and kissed it, before he moved close to her and nuzzled her neck. Chakotay saw how her eyes slipped close, and he imaged how a low moan escaped her mouth, when she titled her head back to give him better access.

Briefly, he imagined how it would be to be in Jaffen's place right now, and some part of him wished he would have been aboard Voyager when the crew had been forced to leave the ship, only to be brainwashed in the process of doing so.

Would have he and Kathryn met here in that working plant? Would they have both again felt the instant connection, the instant chemistry they'd felt all those years ago, when they had met first? Would they have had a chance here together, far away from her responsibility; from the pressure of her command?

Kathryn turned her head and her and Jaffen's lips touched in a soft kiss, before they broke apart, only to move together again, more heated this time. Chakotay felt himself stir, and he was relieved that he was hidden in the dark.

Suddenly, a loud group of customers entered the bar and blocked his sight on them. After some minutes his surroundings quietened, and he cast a glance at their table again. He noticed that both had stood up and had moved to stand near the exit; where Jaffen helped her in a light jacket, before he put his arm close around her. They left the bar, with Kathryn having her head tucked under his chin, snuggling into him.

Again his heart constricted at the sight. Yes, he was jealous. Yes, he wanted to swap places with that alien man. Yes, he wanted to be the one who would be taking her home now, home to his bed, to make her happy, to make her forget her burdens, to make love to her.

He got up with a sigh and followed them with some distance, while he silently cursed the organisation she worked for, for the regulations they'd forced on her. He cursed fate for being so cruel and for bringing them into that devastating situation in the Delta Quadrant; and he cursed himself for being so stupid and cowardly for he never had told her how he felt.

And lastly he cursed them all together again, for it was his job to 'rescue' her out of the haven she seemingly had built herself here.

But he knew her; she wouldn't want to have it any other way…..
