Prologue
"Jent leave Kait alone!" Katy told her son. Kait glared at her brother, his gray eyes seemed darker than normal as he was scolded by their mom.
"You can't pick on your sister its rude." Katy said sternly to her kit.
"She asked for it." Jent hissed. Katy ignored his remark and went to the food dish that the humans set out for them. She hungrily wolfed down the food it was fresh, for once. She took a quick gulp of water before returning back to her kits.
"Kent come and play with Jent and I" Tizima mewed, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
"I rather not play with you guys right now." Kent murmured.
"Your such a party pooper!" Tizima hissed playfully.
"Can I come and play with you?" Kait asked unsure of herself.
"DUH" Tizima mewed.
Kent watched as his sisters and brother bounced around each other play fighting. He didn't hear his mom approaching.
"Why aren't you playing with your brother and sisters Kenty?" His mom asked in between coarse licks. Instead of replying Kent just lied down and went to sleep.
The other kits however were wide awake, as they played. Kait seemed to sleepy to care where she was putting her paws. Jent jumped on her rolling her onto her back. Kait was exhausted and Jent knew it. Kait powerfully kicked her hind feet and as Jent flew off she ran as fast as she could to the basket where she jumped on top of her mom.
"KAIT!" Her moms stern voice cutting into her like a blade.
"What in Starclans name do you think your doing?"
Kait looked at her mom noticing her eyes got darker and colder as she was realizing what she had just spoken to her kit. At what she just said would change Kaits life forever.
