Atlantic's Story
Chapter #1
Atlantic's mother held him close. She looked over at his father, pride gleaming in her eyes. Atlantic opened his eyes and looked up. He saw three wolves around him. A mother, a father, and an older sister. He continued to look around sniffing the air heavily. His mother laughed " I see someone is hungry!"
The others had prepared a feast for the new cubs of this spring. Atlantic's mother walked over to the stone table, still holding her child close. Atlantic was in awe. The table was covered in raw meat and bread. He thought that all the wolves in the world were coming to eat as well.
After the pups were full it was time for the adults to eat. Atlantic's older sister, Mitya took him from the tabled and brought him outside. "See Atlantic, this is your world now." she said quietly, putting him to sleep.
The years passed like days and Atlantic, along with all the other cubs, was growing.
Mom in going to visit the other tribes!" Mitya called as she snuck out of the den.
Mitya!" her mother called after her.
"Yes mother?"
Her mom aproached her and handed her a fur coat, "Take this. It is bitterly cold out." She looked around, " Have you seen your brother?"
Mitya put on the coat, "No mom I haven't seen him since last-night..." And with that she was gone.
"Atlantic!" his mother called through the cave. He heard her and imediatly hid. "Atlantic come here now !" she growled.
Atlantic knew what she wanted so he stepped out of crack in the wall. "Yes mother?" he asked his head was low.
"Atlantic, how many times do i have to tell you that training is part of what you have to do?"
He smiled up at her and counted on his fingers. "I cant count that high!" he laughed.
His mother looked at him with a straight face, "Atlantic," she crouched down to his height, "You see this spear ? One day you will be the owner of it. If you never go to class you will never learn how to use it properly."
"But why does Mitya get to leave?" he cried.
"That is because she is a girl. She doesn't need to learn how to fight, unless she wanted to." she pointed out. "Now get going!" he said and pushed him out the door to the training area.
As he arrived, the other cubs looked at him sharply. Then he spotted his father smiling proudly at him.
"Atlantic!" the coach called.
"Uh ... yes sir?"
"It is time for your test." the old wolf pulled him into the middle of everyone and then pulled another cub in as well. He gave Atlantic a spear that was right for his size and gave a sword to the other wolf. He then stepped back to observe.
Atlantic was ready. He found it unfair that he got a spear and the other got a sword but shook his head. He growled and held the spear out to the other wolf and the other did the same with his sword.
The other young wolf had the first move. He charged at Atlantic and swung his sword. Atlantic jumped back and blocked it with his spear. The other wolf pushed harder and the spear split in two. Atlantic looked around ' All i can do now is dodge untill i find a way out.' he thought and dodged another blow form the sword. Suddenly he tripped and was looking up at the other wolf who held his sword to Atlantic's neck. Atlantic gripped the two peices of his spear in each hand tightly. The sword inched towards his throat. Atlantic looked around and could think of nothing else he lifted his hands and stabbed the other wolf through the neck.
He looked on in horror. "What did i do?" he whispered to himself as the wolfling fell to the ground. "What did i do?" he cried and ran off into the woods alone
