an: for nikki. shameless fluff, as requested. merry christmas!
Lily twisted her fingers through Lorcan's, huddling deeper into his chest as a cold snowflake landed on her copper hair.
"It's snowing again," she said, craning her neck up to see better the flurry of snow adding another coat of pristine ivory to the white fields that stretched out as far as they could see. They had the best seats, up here on the roof, watching the stars.
Lorcan played with a strand of her hair, curling it around his pale finger. "You know, they say that when someone passes away, they become a star."
"So the sky is full of dead people?" Lily murmured seriously, before saying, "So which one is my Uncle Fred?"
"Hmm… that one." He pointed to the brightest star he could see, which put all the others to shame."
"Really? Funny, when I was six and Pig died, Mum said Pig was that star too."
"Oh. Um… they share stars."
Lily just smiled. "Well then, merry Christmas, Uncle Fred. Slash Pig."
"Hey Lily? I think I hear the bells on Santa's sleigh. Better go to sleep before he gets here," Lorcan teased. Lily grinned.
"Sweetie, do you still wait up for the Easter Bunny as well?"
Lorcan rolled his eyes, but played along. "Absolutely."
They fell into silence, watching the snow dance around them, until a clock chimed midnight softly, somewhere down below in the sleeping household.
"Merry Christmas, Lily," Lorcan whispered, leaning down to kiss her.
They pulled away on the twelfth chime, both beaming and flushed red from something other than the cold.
"Merry Christmas, Lorcan."
