Hello there! This is my third fanfiction and the first for the Gundam! After playing the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam 2, I couldn't help but admire Nu Gundam sooooo muuuuch! I mean that thing pushed a falling freakin huge asteroid base Axis from falling to the Earth? Amuro is the only one who had the nerve to do that!

Side note: The Mobile Suits in story are from CCA MSV version. In other words, I use Hi-Nu Gundam instead the Nu Gundam or Nightingale instead Sazabi.

Anyway, enjoy :)

Universal Century 0093…

Four years had passed since the intense conclusion of the war between A.E.U.G. and Neo Zeon, and its splinter group formed by Glemy Toto. Once again people found themselves in a time of peace thanks to the efforts of the Newtype teenager named Judau Astha and his friends from the Shangri-La Colony. However, the peace itself only lasted for a several years.

Five years after the deaths of Haman Karn and Glemy Toto, once again Char Aznable, otherwise known by his birth name of Casval Rem Deikun, the son of Zeon Sum Deikun had returned as the new leader of the newly revived Neo Zeon. Believing that humanity must leave the Earth to restore its original state and evolve into Newtypes, once again the Red Comet declared war against the Federation by directing the asteroid of Axis towards the Earth to cause a second ice age, thus forcing all of humanity to migrate into space.

One could say that it was very ironic because despite his wish to restore the Earth, he wanted to fulfill it by creating an apocalypse…

However, his lifelong rival, Amuro Ray, the legendary pilot of the RX-78-2 Gundam mobile suit along with the Londo Bell EFSF special task force led by Bright Noa didn't stand idle. Using the nuclear missiles that had been equipped in every warship, including the Ra-Cailum, they managed to destroy the giant asteroid base by detonating the missiles inside of it, ending Char's insane plan.

However… their efforts were far from successful as the massive asteroid base was only split in two...

- Chapter 1: The Space Rainbow -

Universal Century 0093 – Earth Atmosphere

Two Mobile Suits; one white and blue and the other red, clashed across the surface of Axis. The first unit was a Gundam-type with its distinctive V-shaped antenna and its signature chin albeit in blue. It had 2 large back binders that housed boosters with sockets for 3 fin-shaped Funnels on each booster, two propellant tanks, and a shield with an internal beam cannon which had a red Unicorn symbol emblazoned on it.

This was the RX-93-v2 Hi-Nu Gundam, Amuro's personal use Mobile Suit that he designed himself which incorporated the revolutionary psycoframe system.

The other Mobile Suit was a massive, bulky-framed Mobile Suit with 3 external propellant tanks, 2 large shoulder armors which housed 5 remote weapons known as Funnels on each and a large tail binder which stored 2 more propellant tanks. Anyone who saw it could have mistaken it as a Mobile Armor.

It bore the name of the MSN-04II Nightingale, Char's newest personal heavy assault type Mobile Suit which also incorporated the same system used by his rival.

The two Mobile Suits drew their beam sabers and launched their Funnels as well before clashing once again. Sparks from the two colliding sabers and beams of two different colored beams from the Funnels trying to shoot each other around the two could be clearly seen as neither of them gave up, struggling against each other. However, being smaller and more agile, the Hi-Nu Gundam eventually got the upper hand as it used its head-mounted Vulcan cannons to destroy the Nightingale's right arm along with its beam tomahawk.

The Gundam then punched the Nightingale on its chest using its beam cannon shield, pushing it away before Amuro quickly commanded the Fin Funnels to regroup around him.

"Fin Funnels! Attack!"

At his command, the fin-shaped weapon pods began to bombard the Nightingale, knocking the massive Mobile Suit off balance before finally finishing it off by shooting every part of its frame, destroying the limbs one by one and sparing nothing but a disembodied torso with its head in the end.

But the Gundam didn't stop there as it grabbed its enemy's head and then crushed it before removing a ball-shaped escape pod from it.

It was then that Amuro heard his rival chuckle which was rather strange because it was very clear who had won their fight. He didn't like this at all. Did the Red Comet still have another trick up his sleeve?

"What are you laughing about?!" The White Devil angrily demanded from inside his cockpit.

"Looks like I win." Char boasted through the comm unit from his captured escape pod. "According to my calculations, the back of Axis is being pulled in by Earth's gravity. Sorry, but your plan has backfired."

"What!?" Amuro's eyes went wide in shock as the Hi-Nu Gundam turned around to see where the other half of the giant asteroid was going to. Much to his horror, Char was right! The back of Axis was now was burning in the Earth's atmosphere!

Even though the damage wouldn't be as severe as the whole asteroid, it was still more than enough to take millions of innocents on Earth.

Gritting his teeth and clenching the Gundam's controls tighter, Amuro spoke out.

"No! It's just a STUPID GIANT ROCK! My Gundam can push it back!"

(Beyond The Time – Char's Counterattack)

The Hi-Nu Gundam boosted towards the falling half of Axis while carrying the Nightingale's escape pod in its hand. Inside it, Char was stunned, unable to believe what his rival had just said out loud. No Mobile Suit, even a Gundam, would survive trying to push away something that massive while resisting the heat from descending to Earth. It was nothing but a foolish way to commit suicide.

"That's impossible!" exclaimed the Red Comet, but the White Devil's answer was simple.

"I'll just have to try!"

"You're insane!" Char frowned, thinking that his rival had lost his mind.

"Unlike you, Char!" The Red Comet flinched when Amuro addressed him by his name and could feel that the Gundam pilot had increased his Mobile Suit's thruster output. "I have patience. And I haven't lost faith in humanity's ability to grow and learn!"

"There's nothing you can do. Axis has already started falling, Amuro!" Char still insisted that whatever Amuro had in mind would be futile, but the latter ignored him.

"This Nu Gundam isn't just for show!"

Amuro now found himself standing before the giant asteroid which loomed ever larger as it came closer to the Gundam. With all of its power being diverted to its thrusters, the Hi-Nu Gundam left bluish-white trails in its wake as it slammed the Nightingale's escape pod against the rocky surface of Axis, partially embedding it. And then using the other hand, the Gundam began attempting to push Axis back.

From the Gundam's cockpit, Amuro could feel sweat trickle down his skin under his pilot suit. It was like being inside an oven that constantly heated up, but he wouldn't give up.

'If I have to throw my life away, then so be it!' thought the White Devil, full of determination.

Green and yellow mist began coming out from the Hi-Nu Gundam's inner frame, resonating with its pilot's feelings as it kept pushing against Axis. The psycoframe mist which later would be known by a Psyco-field slowly grew in size, spreading and covering the whole half of Axis.

Amuro never expected what happened next. The Jegan and GM III Mobile Suits from the 88th Fleet suddenly arrived, some riding on their Base Jabber support units from every direction before they jumped off and joined the Hi-Nu Gundam in pushing Axis back.

"Huh? What are you doing?" Amuro was surprised with this unexpected turnout. Unlike the Hi-Nu Gundam, both the Jegan and GM III were mass produced Mobile Suits with average performance, and as a Mobile Suit engineer, Amuro knew that they couldn't withstand the heat of Earth's atmosphere unaided.

"Stop it, you don't have to go along with this! Back off! Get away from here!" He told them, looking at his right and left that were now crowded with Jegan and GM III pushing against the descending Axis.

...

Meanwhile aboard the bridge of a Federation Clop-class cruiser, the entire crew of men and women, including the captain were at a loss of words. Their mouths hung open either in disbelief or amazement as they watched what was happening right before their eyes. The Jegans and GM III's that were still out there suddenly stopped fighting the Geara Dogas before rushing towards the strange green and yellow light coming from the falling half end of Axis, almost as if it was calling out to them.

"What the-!? Who the hell gave our troops the order to leave the combat zone!?" The captain all but shouted in utter shock and disbelief.

Cold sweat trickled down his cheek as the captain turned towards one of the operators and was about to order the Mobile Suits back, but said man cut him off.

"Captain! I have received transmissions from the other ships! They have also reported the same thing! All Mobile Suits, including those that just launched from their hangar bays are ignoring the enemy units and heading straight towards Axis!"

"We've been trying to contact the pilots, but so far there's been no response." added another brunette-haired female operator. "Some of them have even turned off their comm units and I can't reach them, sir!"

"Are they insane!? We're still in the middle of a fight!" The captain exclaimed in agitation, slamming his fist on the side of his command chair before turning to the Mobile Suit operator.

"What's the status of our remaining Mobile Suits in the hangar?" He demanded.

At his request, the MS operator began typing several keys on his console and brought up the MS list. Much to his shock, he found that the last two Jegans had just launched without authorization, both of said Mobile Suits darting past the observation window.

"...I think you just got the answer for that, Captain."

The captain however ignored him, still in a state of shock as he slowly slumped back in his chair and could only watch as the combat zone was now filled with only Neo Zeon's Mobile Suits and warships. He wondered what was happening and what would happen to them next.

And his answer came when the first operator spoke again.

"Captain! I just received a transmission. It's from the Ra-Cailum." The captain snapped out of his stupor at the mention of the name of Londo Bell's flagship. His reply was simple.

"Patch it in."

"Affirmative. Patching in." With a nod, the operator pressed a button which turned one of the screens showing the live feedback image into a man in a beige, black, red, and yellow Londo Bell uniform albeit with its collar left unbuttoned.

This man was Bright Noa, the captain of the Ra-Cailum and a veteran of the One Year War, the Gryps Conflict, and the First Neo Zeon War. He had been widely known in the Federation ranks for having commanded Mobile Suit forces composed of at least a Gundam and a Newtype pilot. The man seemed calm and levelheaded in spite of the situation as if it wasn't something new to him.

As this happened, at the same time, on the bridge of one of Neo Zeon's Musaka-class cruiser, everyone also had the same dumbfounded expression at the sight of the Federation Mobile Suits suddenly leaving the battle towards the falling half of Axis where the strange light. However, unlike the Feds, they immediately realized their advantage in this situation.

"The enemy's Mobile Suits are retreating! Now's our chance!" The Neo Zeon captain exclaimed before issuing orders. "All Mobile Suits, focus your attacks on the enemy ships! This time, Zeon shall triumph over the Federation!"

However, none of the Geara Dogas moved from their positions. Instead, they just stayed there, looking at where their enemies had gone to before one of them suddenly threw away its weapons and then left, ignoring the given order, before the others followed. It was now their turn to leave the battlefield, much to the captain's shock.

"WHAT!? What's the meaning of this!? Why are our troops leaving the combat zone?" The Musaka's captain exclaimed, clenching his fists in anger. "Our victory is almost in our grasp! What the hell are they thinking!?"

"Captain! You won't believe this!" One female operator informed him, getting the captain's attention as he turned to her. "Our pilots have just launched with the remaining Geara Dogas without authorization! I cannot contact them for some reason. It looks like they have disabled their comm units."

"And not only from our ship!" Another one added, making the captain turn to him now. "The same thing also happened to the other Musakas and even the Rewloola! All of them seem to follow the unknown psycommu readings coming from the falling Axis."

Letting out a growl, the Musaka Captain cursed, clenching his fists tighter.

"Those fools...! Have they lost their minds...!?"

"Uh, captain? There's an incoming broadcast from the Rewloola." Another operator spoke up, glancing at the captain before pressing a button. "I'm patching in."

The main screen then switched from showing the camera feedback into a female Neo Zeon officer wearing a maroon, red, and gold uniform.

This woman was Nanai Miguel, a woman Char entrusted so much to be his chief operation officer and probably the only woman the Red Comet genuinely loved after his first love's death: Lalah Sune.

...

Back with Amuro and the Londo Bell units, the Hi-Nu Gundam was now surrounded by dozens of Federation Mobile Suits helping it push back Axis. Despite the Gundam pilot's constant plea not to help as they would needlessly die in the process, no one listened to him. The Londo Bell soldiers had resolved their hearts, even though they knew it would cost them their lives.

Then suddenly...

"We can't let the Federation hog all the glory!" A Neo Zeon squad commander said from afar as he came with squadrons of Geara Dogas and began engaging thrusters against Axis.

The Principality of Zeon, an entity that wanted to gain independence and liberate the spacenoids from the Earth Federation, and the latter which wanted to maintain the law and order of the Universal Century. Despite the fact that they had been sworn adversaries to each other for decades, both sides, moved by the will of a single man, had cast away their differences and now banded together to end what they had started.

"Even the Geara Dogas too?" Amuro's eyes widened, almost not believing what was happening right before his eyes as a result of his own bravado. Even though the Neo Zeon soldiers were enemies of the Federation, there was no way that he could make them throw away their lives. He had to stop their foolishness!

"Fall back! It's hopeless! Your Mobile Suits won't last any longer!" He warned again, hoping that they would leave him to do the job but like before, it was useless...

One Geara Doga turned to look at him.

"We'll never know unless we try! The Earth is at stake!" said a Neo Zeon pilot.

He wasn't alone in such beliefs.

"I have relatives living on Earth too. I was a fool before but now I've seen our mistakes. Please let us make it up, sir."

Next a Federation pilot spoke in surprisingly a jovial tone despite the current situation.

"Sorry Lieutenant Amuro. But it looks like we outvoted you in this. We're in this together no-"

The Jegan pilot was cut off as his Mobile Suit's thruster pack exploded, either killing him or just cutting off his comm unit.

"That's enough! Everyone stop!" Amuro pleaded as said Jegan was tossed away from the group, detonating from the massive overload. The White Devil could only watch in horror as more Jegans and GM III were destroyed.

The Geara Dogas began to face the same fate. A few even tried to endure by linking hands, but it was futile. Inside his escape pod, Char could only watch as he found this somewhat ironic, the Neo Zeon who came from the space colonies and eternal enemies of the Federation were now on the same page, helping each other to stop something that they started in the first place to save the Earth.

"In the end, the tragedies of mankind will spread and destroy the Earth. It's inevitable." Char once again spoke his mind after seeing how his plan had turned out, "That's why the human race must atone for what they have done to their planet. It's Judgment Day for humanity. Amuro, why can't you understand that?"

Ignoring his words, Amuro kept pushing against Axis while telling the others to move away. It was then that the psycoframe began resonating again and this time, a massive burst of psycoframe aura emerged from the Hi-Nu's frame, slowly pulling the other Mobile Suits away from it, saving them from their suicide attempt.

"What's this? The psycoframes are overloading!" Char exclaimed, shocked at the psycoframe's sudden outburst and the effects it gave, "So much willpower focused here…! So much warmth...!"

As the other Mobile Suits started to get pulled away from Axis, saving the pilots' lives, and left the two alone again, another burst of psycoframe aura started to stretch toward the other half of Axis, slowly pulling the falling piece back to its original place.

"Fascinating, even those with the warmest of hearts still have the potential to destroy the Earth." Char said in awe as he saw how the people's will, including his own soldiers had been transformed into a wave of pure energy caused by the resonance of the psycoframe, "Why can't you see that, Amuro?"

"I do! That's why we have to show the world this light within the human heart!" Amuro replied as he kept pushing the asteroid.

Inside his Mobile Suit, the White Devil gritted his teeth as the psycoframe aura grew bigger and stronger, slowly enveloping the Hi-Nu Gundam. He didn't know what effect it would give should the psycoframe overload, but he didn't care. As long as it would save the remaining pilots, either Federation or Zeon, and the people of Earth, he'd gladly take the risk.

And then everything around him turned white… The last thing he saw was a white goose coming to him before it morphed, turning into a dark-skinned woman of Hindi origin who gave him a warm smile and offered him a hand. Amuro smiled a bit, feeling his soul at peace like he never felt before and whispered out a single name before he lost consciousness.

"Lalah…"

...

Onboard the Ra-Cailum's bridge, Bright Noa, after giving out his speech to the Clop-class captains to let the Mobile Suit pilots do what their hearts told them to, stood up from his seat. He, along with the crew of the ship, was witnessing what would be known later as the 'Axis Shock' in wide-eyed amazement. The power of the psycoframe, combined with the will and effort of one man and Mobile Suit… no, the united feelings of all humans and Newtypes who wanted Earth to survive longer, so they could see a better tomorrow had done what was probably thought to only exist in fairy tales.

The sight of the psycoframe energy creating an aurora-like phenomenon in space was a very breathtaking one that no one had ever seen before. It was so beautiful and yet they still could feel the warmth similar to a mother's lap from it. For a moment, everyone was drowning in silence until...

"Sir! The other half of Axis has changed course!" One of Ra-Cailum's operators exclaimed happily, turning to Bright who looked back at him. "It's moving away from the Earth!"

"I'm getting multiple friendly contacts here." A female operator reported from another side. She smiled as she read an incoming message. "It's from the 88th Fleet! They said the mission is a success! The Earth will live on, sir!"

Cheers and applause filled every corner of the ship as all crewmembers rejoiced at the end of Char's nefarious plan. Little they did know that their enemies had also taken part in saving the Earth.

"He did it. You really did it, Amuro…" Bright muttered as he leaned back. The captain closed his eyes, smiling a bit as he recalled those days when he first discovered Amuro as the pilot of the original Gundam: The RX-78-02.

He admitted that he was a bit... well actually too harsh towards the Gundam pilot who wasn't even a proper soldier back then. Maybe Amuro had taken some of his words too seriously at heart. But after everything that happened, the two were now almost like brothers. Sometimes he wondered what would have been if Amuro hadn't become a pilot on the White Base. Would Zeon have won the One Year War? Who knows?

Heaving out a sigh, Bright stood up.

"Alright. All hands, prepare the repair bay for the returning Mobile Suits! Send out S&R teams to retrieve the immobile units and signal all available ships to cease fire with the Neo Zeon forces!"

"On it, Captain Bright." replied a Mobile Suit specialist operator. "The Tri-Stars team has been told to look for any survivors."

The captain relaxed a bit, leaning back in his seat. For a while, everyone from their respective sides was busy recovering their remaining forces and calling for a temporary truce. At last this mess would be finally over and the only things the captain needed to worry about were the paperwork awaiting and how he should report this to his superiors.

"Captain Bright. I'm receiving a message from the S&R unit that went to Axis." One operator said, his face looked anxious as he turned towards Bright. "They said that they couldn't find any traces of the Lieutenant's unit, sir."

"What!?" Bright jolted up from his seat in surprise. "Tell them to search it again! They might have overlooked it!"

"Still negative, sir! They said that they have already searched all of the interior and exterior of Axis and yet..." The operator trailed off, looking at his screen before turning to Bright. "There are no signs of Lieutenant Ray's Mobile Suit, Captain Bright."

Bright was silent. While the captain kept his emotions in check as shown from the look on his face, he felt as if he had just lost another irreplaceable family member. The last time he felt like this was back then when Ryu Jose, the Guntank pilot, sacrificed himself in a suicide attack by ramming his Core Fighter jet against one of Zeon's Magella Tops to save the White Base and its forces from a transport packed with explosives. Yet somehow, this time, it felt more painful, almost like losing a younger brother.

"Captain Bright?"

Heaving out a sigh, the man stared at the stars and green-yellow space rainbow for a moment before he turned around towards his subordinates.

"To express our last respect to our fallen comrades... and one of our best pilots the Federation ever had. All hands! Salute!"

The Ra-Cailum's bridge crew stood from their stationed seats and saluted together with their captain to pay their respect for their fallen comrades and the White Devil. Some looked sad, a few female operators were even crying silently over the death of the legendary Gundam pilot.

"You've done so much for us, Amuro… thank you." The Ra-Cailum captain said, still maintaining his posture.

Two destined individuals: The White Devil and The Red Comet. After years since their fated meeting which marked the start of their bitter rivalry, their battles had finally come to an end. Forever their names would be known throughout the history of the Universal Century…

Except that the universe itself wasn't done with them yet…

Somewhere in empty space

In the midst of the emptiness of outer space, a familiar white and blue Mobile Suit could be seen floating lifelessly amongst the space debris and stars. Inside the cockpit, Amuro Ray would have gotten a very good nap if the Gundam's warning system stopped blaring like an alarm clock in the morning.

"Urgh... Hrnggghh…" The White Devil groaned, his head felt heavy from all the noise that the alarm was making. Instinctively, he flexed his muscles first before rubbing his eyes.

The first thing Amuro saw when he opened his eyes was that his panoramic monitor was offline save the red node that kept blaring truly like an alarm that needed to be smashed.

Grumbling in mild annoyance, the Gundam pilot pulled out a keyboard from under the pilot chair and input a few command keys. With the 'Enter' key being pressed last, the alarm finally went off followed by a low humming sound that indicated his Gundam rebooting again.

As the panoramic screen showed the live image of his surroundings, Amuro noticed that he was alone in the middle of what appeared to be a shoal zone. There were no Mobile Suits from Londo Bell or Neo Zeon forces around, let alone their warship.

"What...? Where am I...?" Amuro wondered aloud but shrugged it off immediately as there was something more important. Then he began typing again and this time, his panoramic cockpit showed him the current condition of the Hi-Nu Gundam. Condition-wise, his Gundam was still combat ready. The head Vulcan guns and the arm machine gun still had plenty of ammo, the beam cannon shield and beam rifle still had a few shots left before they needed replacement e-pacs and the beam sabers stored in the back binders and right arm were fully usable.

While it was relieving to find out that he was still capable of fighting back should he face any hostile forces, the only thing which concerned him though was the amount of the fuel he had. On his cockpit screen, the fuel meter now had reached the red zone and both propellant tanks were completely depleted.

Well, it wasn't like he didn't expect this either as he was ready to die along with...

"Char!" The White Devil suddenly remembered his arch-rival. Where was he? He couldn't find the Nightingale's escape pod signal on his radar nor feel Char's presence. But Amuro knew The Red Comet better. He really doubted that Char was gone for good because if he was, then he should have felt his spirit lingering around. After all, this wasn't the first time he cheated death since the One Year War and probably wouldn't be the last time either.

Amuro stopped thinking what could've possibly happened to his rival when he saw something among the debris that took his interest. Some broken mechanical arms, legs, a head, and a torso which he zoomed in on and immediately recognized as…

"A Mobile Suit?"

It was indeed a Mobile Suit. But what caught his interest was the appearance of the Mobile Suit itself despite it having been reduced to scrap. The head, while it resembled a Zaku's monoeye and its cousins, looked more advanced and surprisingly wasn't colored in drab green like the Geara Dogas. Another feature he noticed was that there were a few of them which meant these Mobile Suits were either mass produced or prototypes for use by special forces.

"Are these Zeon's new secret Mobile Suits?" Amuro wondered. If it was, then why hadn't Londo Bell's intelligence division told them anything about them? He tried to compare the scans to the Zeon-type suits from his Gundam's database, however it kept giving the same result.

NO MATCHES FOUND

"What...?" He trailed off, almost finding it unbelievable despite the common traits they shared. The White Devil finally grunted, throwing up his hands in mild frustration. There was still another problem, particularly on how to get out of here before he was turned into space junk...

Little he did know that he would get his answer soon, as well as the beginning of a new destiny...
