((This is just a little something based on the book. For those of you who didn't ever read it, Uncas kind of had a thing for Cora, or so people say. I find it a little confusing, so I wrote this story about Uncas and Cora and what I think might possibly center around Uncas. I hope it's alright! Oh, and it's not supposed to rhyme. XD))
He Searched Too Far
He's searched too far, he's tried to hard to help the lonely girl.
He meant no harm, he only tried to follow his beliefs.
He sees the sky so shining bright amidst the pain-streaked day.
He's tried to fight for all he's worth, but Uncas searched too far.
He saw her then and what he felt, he couldn't quite explain.
But in her prescence, lonliness was all too clear to see.
The young Mohican found no way to talk to Cora then.
What would he say? They only met on that eluded day.
He felt it then, when she was taken captive far away.
His outer wall was solid, his inner strength, it thrived.
He dared not speak a word, he dared not break a sign.
He knew that he could save her, that she would see the light.
Again, he tried to free her from an undesired fate.
But the wind had turned against him and swept him off his feet.
The maiden Cora traveled through the densely scattered woods.
Uncas had held his gaze on her, until she was no more.
Now and for the very last, Uncas was the hero.
He fought as hard he dared, he had his plan set up.
So close was he in achieving his goal, so close was he to Her.
But Uncas sought too far and in his mind embedded,
The image of the woman there, no life, no blood, no hope.
He avenging Cora's death, but he too payed the price.
So there they lie, two murdured youths, when all they craved was life.
But perhaps they dwell in some strange land where humans become pure.
But such was done that could not be said, Uncas had searched too far.
((Alright, I know it wasn't the best. But review anyway please. -smiles-))
