For some unexplained reason, Sumireko found herself drawn to Banba, to both Mahiru and Shinya. She had an inkling as to why, it was possible that it was the fascination of how two mind can be in one body, and in one being alone. She had figured that it was a defense mechanism, to protect herself, just as her own body had its own machinations and antibodies to defend it from more damage.
There was also a destination.
Mahiru was innocent and naïve, shy around other people, and Sumireko found herself approaching her in soft steps, assuring her that everything was all right, far from danger, as far as danger would be in Myojo Academy until nightfall. Shinya was a different beast, as she was the polar opposite of Mahiru, a primal instinct and repressed emotions made alive, and Sumireko couldn't help but be in awe.
Sumireko was in awe. It took a lot to impress her, being a person of impeccable taste and all.
She wondered if the duality in Banba was something that she hadn't seen in person, as she only heard of such happenings in her books and studies. She knew that she held her own duplicities as well, from being ravaged by disease and threats upon her life, she made herself into a weapon and almost human too.
They were both almost human.
Sumireko and Banba were almost human, because they had lost something that couldn't be held again.
