Bo and Cooter were tinkering with the General Lee when Jesse got the call from his sister-in-law Mary-Ann Duke, AKA Bo's mother. Luke was out working in the barn and Daisy was in the kitchen. She answered the phone and was shocked to hear from her Aunt Mary-Ann. She hadn't heard from her since Bo came to live on the farm.
"Daisy, is you're Uncle Jesse around?" Mary-Ann asked. She sounded nervous.
"He's out in the barn with Luke." Daisy said. "Hold on just a minute." She set the phone down and ran out to the barn. "Uncle Jesse!" Daisy yelled.
"What is it?" Jesse asked from where he was working.
"Aunt Mary-Ann's on the phone for you." She said. Jesse dropped the wrench he was using. Luke looked over at him.
"Uncle Jesse?" Luke asked. "What's wrong?"
"I knew this day was going to come." Jesse said. He quickly went inside. Luke and Daisy cast looks at each other.
"What do you suppose is going on?" Daisy asked.
"I don't know, but I hope it doesn't involve Bo." Luke said. The two cousins headed for the house to see if they could hear what was going on.
"What's this about Mary-Ann?" Jesse asked. Mary-Ann sighed.
"Jesse, John's out of jail." Mary-Ann said. Jesse's mouth hung open. "He's heading toward Hazard I think. He's coming for Bo."
"Oh no." Jesse said. "Thanks Mary-Ann." Jesse hung up the phone. He turned around to look at Luke and Daisy, standing there in the doorway. "Kids, John Duke is back." Daisy and Luke exchanged looks. As long as he was out there, Bo was as good as dead.
