She stood at the door fidgeting nervously from foot to foot. She was just about to leave when Chuck opened the door. A flash of surprise shone in his eyes , but then he covered it wearing a blank expression. There was a hint of something else. Pain? Love? She did not dare to hope.
He said:" Come on in."
The empire looked the same. The same furniture, the same smell, the same vibe that made her feel like she belonged.
"What brings you here?" He asks politely.
Blair says : " I want to talk. Last year was a mess, I told you I am not in love with you anymore, and I went with Dan."
He says :" You haven't spoken to me since , so I would appreciate it if you get straight to the point."
"Dan and I broke up."
"Last year , I was waiting for you to come tell me this. I waited everyday for this. Now , it is too late."
"_It's not. It cannot be! You and I we both know that I will be a Bass in the end."
"_After what? You tried with Louis it did not work , so you went with Dan it did not work again , and now you are coming here? You juggled the three of us and now that I am the only one left , you want me?I am done."
"_You are attacking me cause i did not prioritize you? When did you ever prioritize me? Eva, Rania, the Empire. I was always your fallback plan and you know it."
"_ You were not available when I was with them , and I did not think that I would lose you over the hotel. You knew I was there and waiting for you."
"_Of course you should have known. You used my body like a prostitute, you started a war with me over a real prostitute, and you physically hurt me. You have done unforgivable things , and I forgave you."
"Obviously."
Both stood facing one another , until Blair said :" I should have not come here.
_Fine. Who is the other guy on the list?"
Chuck should have saw it coming, but her slap caught him off guard.
Chuck said :" Sorry."
"No , I am sorry."
Blair took a breath and said :" I was confused. I see clearly know. I left him , cause I knew. It was you. It was always you."
"I do not understand. How could you fall out of love with me? It does not have a turn off button if it is sincere."
"I wanted to be with someone like Dan , who would treat me right , who would not hurt me. I was willing to say anything to you or myself to make it happen."
Chuck went to the bar and took a sip of scotch:" I can't just forget."
Blair nods as her face falls.
" Then I will leave."
She turned to leave, but he he ran up to her and held her by the elbow.
She turned hopeful , and he said :" There is too much baggage and hurt on both sides how can we forget?"
She puts her hand on his cheek , and smiles mysteriously :" I have an idea ."
