A rustle came from the other side of the door, followed closely by a muffled giggle.
There Remus Lupin stood, on the wrong side of his bedroom door at Grimmauld Place, contemplating who could be on the other side. It had to be one of the Order members or the kids, but he knew the schedule of every Order member (he was Dumbledore's right-hand man when dealing with order business, after all) and the kids should have been at Diagon Alley with Molly.
Deciding it was silly to just stand there in the deserted corridor he bursts through the door, hoping to catch the culprit. The door swung back and hit the wall, causing the occupant to jump away from whatever they were doing. Remus was unsure but the person seemed to have been in his nightstand drawer.
The culprit turned slowly to see who had caught… her?
"Hermione, what are you up to?"
"Nothing," she chirped sweetly, not looking very guilty.
"Is that so?" he approached her and stopped at the point where, if she wanted to, Hermione need only take a step and her nose would be to his chest.
He reached up one scarred hand and swiped the pad of his thumb from the middle of her cheek to the corner of her mouth. He chuckled. "I have evidence that proves otherwise, my little chocolate thief." He held up his brown, chocolate-smudged thumb as his 'evidence.'
Hermione gazed up at him innocently.
His expression showed he did not buy any of it.
Making a quick decision, she boldly pressed her lips to his in a chaste kiss. Effectively paralyzing him, she snuck out of the room before he could respond.
Remus sighed but smiled all the same. She really was something.
