Chapter One: First Meeting
'Are you always this bland?'
'What`s taking them so long?' One Draco Malfoy thought in irritation. He knew himself that he wasn't really the most patient child and he knew it too that his parents were equally aware so why make him wait?
He has been sitting there for who knows how along, the boy –he forgot to get his name- from earlier already left with the giant he remembers his father isn't quite fond of. Madam Malkin has measured all the body parts required to make his robe and he will bet she`d good as finished it already, yet, no signs of his mother`s soft face nor his father`s proud hide had shown through the crowd outside.
"How may I help you little miss?" Draco`s inner monologue was interrupted when the witch cheerily greeted a new customer who he was sure would be leaving earlier than him once more.
"I need a set of robes…" Draco couldn't help to find the soft voice quite endearing nor could he not admit that the owner of the said voice is just as cute.
"Hogwarts I assume?" Madam Malkin said, her eyes twinkling with giddiness and joy.
The adorable little girl nodded once more.
As the witch went inside to fetch her things, the girl looked around and met his unwavering gaze. Draco is far from shy so he just stared while she stared back.
This was the scene that greeted Madam Malkin and she couldn't call the situation anything but cute.
"Come along now dear.." She gestured to the stall. The little girl blinked her silvery blue eyes and with a final, long hard stare, she trotted and began shuffling to stand unto the high chair.
The bell chimed once more and little Draco looked up and finally sagged at the sight of his parents. The Malfoy patriarch gave him a pat, a silent apology for making him wait so long while his mother pecked him on the cheeks.
His father and he exited the shop as they wait outside for Narcissa to finish paying up his robes. Draco`s eyes met with the glass of a peculiar store and he began chattering his father`s ear out, begging Lucius to buy him the latest broomstick currently sitting cozy behind the brittle barrier.
The bell once more chimed and the two Malfoys turned to not only see their female family member but the girl from earlier exit through the creaking door.
Narcissa stopped once she had reached their spot, a bemused expression on her face as she, -now along with her two boys- watch the young girl walk with languid, calm pace away from them, her robes inside a paper bag held between her small fingers.
"How… Peculiar…" Lucius mused. He might not be the best father out there but he found it quite odd to see a girl barely older than his baby boy wondering around Diagon Alley all by herself.
"Come along now, we`re going to fetch you your wand." Narcissa piped up, shaking whatever thoughts she had for the girl away, remembering the last and most important requirement her son needed to attend Hogwarts.
Draco`s excitement went off the charts and he all but dragged his parents to Ollivanders. His father was just about to open the door for him and Narcissa to come in when the glass in front of the shop burst into sharp splinters. Lucius` quick reflex was the only thing that prevented the shards from showering Draco and Narcissa.
"Oh dear.." Narcissa mumbled as she removed tiny flecks of glass from Lucius` impossibly long hair. After what done is done, the three finally entered the shop and blinked at the catastrophe they were met with. Piles and piles of wands and boxes alike where haphazardly strewn along the room while destroyed furniture, transfigured objects, and many more were randomly scattered inside the old and worn shop.
"Oh! Apology for the mess Mr. and Mrs. Malfoy!" Ollivander chirped, giddy beyond compare, not giving heed –or not noticing- the humongous beak settled on where his nose should be.
Draco, not really being discreet, pointed at the still unknown girl standing in the middle of the clatter.
"It's you again.." she merely blinked in return while he was chastised by being rude.
"How about.." Ollivander said, fetching a box coloured in dark red. "Spruce, 9 inches, Unicorn hair core, rigid."
They watched silently as the girl gave a small flick.
*BAM!*
All eyes sprung up at the giant hole above, bathing the store with sunlight.
Ollivander looked ecstatic.
"How about you wait for a little while? You`re far too interesting to not appreciate…." The wizard then gently herded the girl to sit beside Narcissa while he gestured to Draco who went bouncing ahead due to excitement.
"Hello there." Narcissa greeted, a soft, angelic smile on her face.
"Hello." The girl replied, her words thick with a foreign but highly endearing accent.
"Where`s your parents?"
"Japan." Well, at least she know this girl`s obviously blunt, not to mention foreign and Asian.
"Then, where`s your companion?"
"Im alone." She`s painfully curt too.
"It`s rather dangerous for a young girl like you to wander here unprotected." Lucius interjected, not taking his eyes off of his son but still open ears towards his wife and the foreign girl`s conversation.
"If something does happen to me, someone`s head will roll."
The two grown-ups remained silent, forms tense at the girl`s vocabulary. Narcissa still kept her smile but was inwardly horrified of the girl`s words. Lucius, on the otherhand, was a bit stunned but amused nonetheless.
He would like to meet this child`s parents in the future, that, he is certain.
"Ah! How delightful! Hawthorn, 10 inches, Unicorn hair core, reasonably stringy! Very complex yet perfect for a wizard with Malfoy blood!" Draco trotted happily towards his parents, a proud grin smeared across his handsome features.
Without missing any beat, the girl jumped off the stool and went straight to Ollivander. Narcissa was a bit disappointed that she wasn't able to get the lovely girl`s name.
"Well, hello again little missy! I assure you we`re going to have so much fun!"
~A couple dozen of wands later….
"Oh… My… Word…" Narcissa mumbled. After getting Draco his wand, they have left the shop and ate lunch. They were on their way home when they caught sight of Ollivander`s, and compare to the destruction they saw earlier, this one`s nearly made Lucius gaping.
The shop was… For the lack of better word, non-existent.
No words were able to give justice to the destruction bestowed upon the ancient shop.
Instead of worrying how his shop looked like, Ollivander looks like he had gone to his utopia and back. The old man was the strongest Lucius had ever seen him, him bouncing all over the place.
Literally.
"Now, try this one… Sycamore, 8 inches, dragon core, slightly springy." One wave and there goes the already un-hinged door.
The Malfoy trio stood a several distance away, intrigued when the jolly man stopped giggling, his face set in a melancholic look while his eyes bore holes unto the young females own set of –terribly bored- orbs.
"You, my dear, is one of the most extraordinary wizard I had ever seen." With that, the ancient wizard turned to his heel and began rummaging inside of what was left of his shop. A couple of moments passed by, he returned with a very dusty box, his strides calm and almost regal.
"Give this one a wave…" unfazed, the little girl gripped the long wand and gave it a long, languid stroke. Little Draco almost closed his eyes for the impending combustion of something when a bright green light forced his eyes open.
Unlike the bland, shiny light most of the wands emitted, a rich emerald glow with a hint of blue sparkled at the tip of the wand.
Draco watched mesmerized.
"Just as I expected…" The wand was impossibly long clasped between nimble, young fingers, stark ebony in colour. The handle was set in a particular design, two serpent like vines creeping along the wood of the wand.
The young girl reached to her pouch to retrieve payment but the old wizard immediately stopped her.
"You`ve given me mirth… And the fact that that wand of yours is a brother to a wand given to a certain someone I more than likely would never forget, I`ll give that to you as a gift…"
"Is that so…" The child said under her breath. Without missing a beat, she bowed low.
"Then thank you… The House of the Moon will forever be in your gratitude." Ollivander`s eyes sparkled at the name.
"I see…" He said cryptically before patting the child on the head.
"Then off you go, I still need to clean up the mess you made out of my shop." The old man said good naturedly.
Giving one last bow, she walked out of the shop and across the street where the Malfoy trio was at.
Three set of eyes followed the regal child as she weaved easily through the crowd, fishing out a metal box of sorts and flipping it open. They watched as her small fingers pushed at some of its buttons before setting the object against her ear.
By that time, she already reached their place and stopped, as if waiting for something to happen. Narcissa was about to ask the young girl if she`s okay when the child suddenly spoke.
"Moshi moshi? Un, Imu chichioya o yatsu... Anata wa watashi o hirotte kudasaimasu ka?"*
"What?" Draco can't help but ask, but based on his parents looks, they`re just as confused as he.
"Hai… Aishiteru To-sama…" She appeared to be done and flipped the rectangular shaped metal closed, slipping it to her skirt pocket shortly after.
And then… She just stared…
"Dad is she mental?" that earned Draco a soft bonk on the head by Lucius' cane.
"Hello again little girl…" Narcissa began.
"Hello as well pretty lady." The older woman laughed.
"Are you waiting for someone?"
"My father will pick me up soon."
"Oh I see… You wouldn't mind if we`ll keep you company yes?" Draco nearly groaned, he wanted to go home. Sure the girl`s interesting and all but he`s pretty damn sure they`d meet at Hogwarts!
"Dad! Blaise is coming over today!" He hissed lowly at his father to no avail seeing that the man is equally fascinated by the young child.
His parents always did crave for a baby girl…
"No, not really…" The girl replied.
"So.." Narcissa began. "What`s your name?"
"Kagome. Taisho, Kagome…" Draco didn't know why but the moment those words fell from the girl –Kagome- `s lips, both of his parents suddenly stood rod straight.
"Taisho…" Narcissa shakily whispered.
"By any chance…" This time, it was Lucius who talked. "Are you related to-"
"Lucius? Cissy? Is that you?" Kagome looked up, her lip twitching barely.
"Tou-sama…" Draco looked at the imposing man. Silver hair, golden eyes, tall frame, obviously expensive clothes, he didn't need to be informed that this man is as well of as his own father based only on his looks.
"Oh my… Toga! It`s been a while!" Narcissa exclaimed, engaging the tall man in a friendly hug.
"Long time no see Cissy! Japan`s being a little bit more troublesome for a single head Auror like me so I wasn't able to visit as often as last time…" Toga's eyes landed on a blinking Draco and smirked.
"So this is your son huh? Time sure flies fast, its feels like its only yesterday when I left your manor with you healthy with this little runt…" Toga went on.
Kagome and Draco stood away as the grownups reconciled, Draco seeing his Father actually interacting with other human beings other than his own family for a change.
It appears that the trio had been childhood friends even before they attended Hogwarts, with Malfoy and Taisho household being in a close allegiance while the Blacks met via Malfoy family.
"So you`re going to attend Hogwarts too?" Draco finally said, bored.
"Obviously." Kagome replied without even looking at him. He pouted.
"What house do you want to be in?"
"Any house is fine…"
"Do you like Gryffindor?"
"Any house is fine…"
"How about Slytherin?"
"Any house is fine…" Draco frowned, him note realising that the adults where watching them.
"Are you always this bland?"
"Yes."
"Can you talk like a normal human being?" He was confused with her answer.
"That will be the least of my worries if I were you." She said before gesturing towards his mother.
"DRACO!" He winced. Uh-oh.
"I cant believe you just insulted Toga`s daughter! In-front of him no less!" Narcissa raged on, Draco following behind, beside his highly amused father.
"Cissy always did have a soft spot whenever it comes to Toga…"
"And you`re ok with it because?" He knew his father is anything but generous, so its truly a wonder how Lucius hasn't hex the silver haired man yet.
"Toga is a year younger than your mother and I, she likes to cuddle him since her own younger brothers refused to." Lucius replied, thinking about earlier times.
"Then I`ll expect that they would be here often from now on?"
"Hm… Yes, I do believe so."
Draco sighed, the fact that he wasn't able to usher the girl in a conversation bugging him, it like she`s not even trying! He`s Draco –bloody- Malfoy! None ignores him! He`s been dotted on for the life of him and this girl`s aint gonna be different if he`s got anything to do with it.
He clenched his fists, an endearing look of determination etching at his face.
'Watch out girl, when Im done with you, you`ll be begging for me to never let go..'
Oh dear, if only he knew that it`ll be him that would do the begging in the future…
OK! Im finally done with chapter one! So, Lusters, about the next chapter, do you want me to do a time skip or do you want to see more interaction between young!Draco and young!Kagome?
Its up to you guys!
