A/N: Okay so this is my absolute first one-shot and songfic so I really hope it doesn't stink very much.
Um.. I don't own the song Mr. Mom. That belongs to the band Lonestar. And I definately don't own Harvest
Moon, but a girl can dream. Oh and sorry if Chase seems a little OOC, I haven't played this game in almost
a year now.
Lost my job, came home mad
'Funny.' The thought repeated through Akari's head as she dutifully watered the thirsty plants. Her mp3 player
played the song of repeat as she worked on the fields of Marimba's Farm.
Got a hug and kiss and that's too bad
She said I can go to work until you find another job
After Chase had come angry after fighting with Yolanda and Maya, Akari offered to work at Marimba's Farm part
time along with her own farm while he cooled off.
I thought I like the sound of that
Watch TV and take long naps
Go from a hand working-dad to being Mr. Mom
Chase had been reluctant but agreed as they watched their four year old and two year old play in the living room
of their home. Now one day and 15 diapers later, he was regretting ever letting Maya get the best of him.
Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
Crayons go up one drawer higher
'These had better be washable.' Chase cursed in his mind as he scrubbed the drawings off the wall their four-year
old girl drew on the wall.
Rewind Barney for the fifteenth time
Breakfast six, naps at nine
Breakfast had been easy, but who knew that little kids could have so much energy?
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Mr. Mom
Football, soccer and ballet
Squeeze in Scouts and PTA
And there's that shopping list she left
That's seven pages long
How much smoke can one stove make
The kids won't eat my charcoal cake
It's more than any maid can take
Being Mr. Mom
Well
Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer
"We'll need to get that replaced." Chase told his giggling daughter at the mess it had made.
Crayons go up one drawer higher
Rewind Barney for the sixteenth time
'How can a child watch one show so many times?'
Breakfast, six naps at nine
There's bubble gum in the baby's hair
'Where did the gum even come from?'
Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair
Been crazy all day long and it's only Monday
Before I fall in bed tonight
If the dog didn't eat the classifieds
"Give that back, you dang dog!" Chase chased their beagle around the house again as it took the paper away from
him.
I'm gonna look just one more time
'Cause
Akari was greeted by her beagle holding the newspaper trying to escape the house. She laughed as Chase scooped
the dog up and pried the paper out of it's jaw.
"How was your day?" Akari asked with a peck on his cheek.
"Pampers melt in a Maytag dryer; Crayons go up one drawer higher" He answered as they went to the kitchen to start dinner.
"Rewind Barney for the eighteenth time; Breakfast six, naps at nine."
"There's bubble gum in the baby's hair!" Akari gasped as their two year old boy waddle into the room.
"Sweet potatoes in my lazy chair. Been crazy all day long." Chase admitted sadly with a shrug.
"Oh been crazy all day long and it's only Monday, Mr. Mom." Akari teased her husband before taking their son to the bathroom
to remove to the gum.
About three hours later they laid next to each other in bed. Relaxing after the hard day of work.
"Balancin' checkbooks, juggling bills. Thought there was nothing to it. Baby, now I know how you feel. What I don't know is how
you do it." Chase whispered to his wife lovingly. "Tomorrow, I'll go and apologize to Yolanda and Maya."
"I love you, Mr. Mom."
"I love you, too." Chase pulled her closer as he turned of the lights.
Honey, you're my hero.
