WHY HE LEFT

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

Okay, I've seen fics where Jason leaves for the Peace Conference either because he's in love with Kimberly and can't bear to see her with Tommy, or he's in love with Tommy and can't bear to see him with Kimberly, and those are fine, I like those, but I thought I'd try out a different reason. Power Rangers belongs to Haim Saban and Nickelodeon. I only own the plot. Reference to "The Green Candle" and "White Light".

Jason settled in his seat as the plane took off and sighed. The Peace Conference couldn't have come at a better time. It was his chance to get away from everything. The team was in good hands with Tommy as their leader. Tommy. He closed his eyes and instantly, visions of the White Ranger costume filled his mind. Jason's fist clenched and he let out a low growl. White. He hated that color. Not because Tommy had replaced him as leader, no, he had deserved that demotion. He had a job to do and he had failed at it. He had been so sure he could get the candle before it was too late. He had gone in cocky, and that's why he had failed. That failure had cost them a valuable teammate, not even Zordon's temporary recharges had been enough. Simply put, there was no way to restore the Green Ranger Powers to full. After Tommy had lost his powers for the last time, Zordon and Alpha had had to create the White Ranger Powers, and in a moment of clarity had replaced a weak leader with a much stronger one. He had tried to deal for a while, but the white was a constant reminder of his failure. Normally seen as a color purity and light, which Tommy it certainly represented, to him, it was just a glaring reminder of how he had let down a teammate and had cost them everything. The truth was, he was no longer fit to be a Ranger. However, he hadn't wanted to leave without first making sure that someone else could take his spot. Rocky, Adam, and Aisha had come at the perfect time. Rocky would make a great Red Ranger and wouldn't know the truth behind the making of the White Ranger. He could follow Tommy into battle without having to worry about being reminded of a failure. No, the Peace Conference couldn't have come at a better time. This gave him a chance to do some good again. And this way, he wouldn't have to worry about letting anybody else down. Plus, no one but Trini and Zack would know about his previous failure, not that they would ever call it a failure. The other Rangers constantly told him that he had no choice but to leave the candle, even Zordon and Alpha had said so, which confused him. Why wouldn't they consider it a failure? He was the leader. It had been his responsibility and duty to retrieve the candle and save Tommy's powers. But he couldn't even do it. Instead, he had left with Zack…not that it was that big of a choice to make though. He would much rather have his Bro alive and kickin' in a new color than to have the Green Rangers powers and have somebody else wearing the suit because he was dead. But it still didn't change the fact that he had failed big time as a Power Ranger. As the plane continued to Switzerland, Jason prayed that he'd at least be able to a minimal amount of good at the conference.

THE END

Before you blast me saying that Jason would never feel any of this, just remember that this is just my imagination.
