Vayne smiled at the three small children then at Nikki, his wife, who held the small baby in her arms, cradling and singing to it. He found it hard to believe that they had been married six years and the fact that they had four children together. Still, he knew it to be true because he could see and touch them and her and it made him happy. When they were in school, this type of future was something he never expected, especially for him, but he did predict it for her.

When the baby had fallen asleep and the kids were all tucked in for the night, he took her hand in the darkness and headed to their room slowly, quietly. She, like the klutz she tended to be at times, stepped on a toy that made noise, thus waking the baby. "Oops..." she muttered.

Almost immediately after she had uttered that word, the baby's cries echoed through the house. Nikki seemed to panic as she lifted him and handed him to Vayne. "O-oh... p-please don't cry," she begged him, but she knew better than to expect it to work.

She turned and saw the little ones. First one to speak was the little boy. "Hm... What's going on?" he asked sleepily.

One of the little girls then asked, "Hnn... is he crying again?"

Vayne left Nikki to tend the little ones, though he didn't go far. He stepped away and the boy asked him, "Daddy, where are you going?"

Vayne started making a bottle for the baby. He looked at Nikki and whined, "Honey..."

Her ears drooped and she said sadly, "S-sorry!" She stuttered and looked at each of the three little ones around her.

The boy rubbed his eyes and said suddenly and with energy, "I'm awake now... Daddy, come play with me!"

One girl giggled and added, "Me too!"

Vayne grumbled, "Ugh... we haven't had any time to ourselves in so long." He dragged out the word so.

Nikki looked at him sadly, her tail drooping momentarily. "I said I'm sorry," she whimpered, kissing his cheek quickly as the baby continued to cry harshly.

The little boy cried for Vayne while the girls hugged Nikki. Vayne chuckled a bit and finished preparing the bottle, putting it in the baby's mouth to soothe him. "Okay, okay, alright. Looks like we won't get that anytime soon," he stated abruptly.

She nodded. "Yeah, not until these kids grow up more."

Vayne continued to feed the infant, sitting down in a rocking chair to try and get him back to sleep. Nikki, on the other hand, lead the three little ones back to bed and sang them a lullaby, putting them to sleep soon. The baby feel asleep quickly, too. Vayne stood carefully and put him back to bed, too. Once he had done that, he saw her coming out of the kids' room and towards him. He took her hand and they tried to get to their room again for some rest, which they made this time. The two lie down together and she snuggled up to him. He put his arms around her and kissed her gently. She fell asleep quickly in his arms.

Sure, his life was hectic, but he wouldn't change it. Getting up to the sound of the baby, playing with the kids and snuggling with his wife made it worthwhile in his mind. He kissed her forehead and lie back, closing his eyes in bliss. That night, like many others, he dreamed of their days together, the peaceful and not-so-peaceful ones, but still good ones nonetheless.
