Chapter 1: The Beginning of Change

Angie sat on the roof of an old, run down barn out in the country. This can't be happening she thought. It's all a dream. But when the cold, harsh wind hit her, so did the fact that everything she saw had happened. They're gone. A tear rolled down her face. She would get her revenge.

Silently she unfurled her wings and fly out into the sky. The cool air seemed to numb her pain. It was what she needed. Here, in the middle of nowhere, she would regain herself and then she would attack Itex for what they did to her. And she wouldn't fight alone. Before all that happened, when Josh, Christine, Beth, Zach, and Mike were with her, they had heard about bird kids flying around in public. And about Omega taking down Itex. And Itex had taken it out on her family. Maximum Ride she thought. I've got to find her.

But what Angie didn't know was that though she had lost her family, the survivors of her family were looking for her all the same. In New York City, hundreds of miles form her, two stressed out mutant kids were trying to find out where she was. "I can't believe we haven't found her yet!" Christine said nervously, taking it out on her hot dog.

"Calm down Christy," Josh said, "We'll get to her before Itex does." I hope he added silently to his self. They were in the middle of Central Park, looking for the only people that could help them. "There they are!" Christine squealed, pointing to a certain tree. No one was out at this time of night, but they could see clearly from the bat DNA in Josh and snowy owl DNA in Christine. In one of the trees were 6 sleeping kids and one dog.

Carefully the two of them walked/flew to the tree, not wanting to disrupt anyone from sleep. But they saw the Fang shaking Max up to greet their new visitors. "Knock it off Fang," she grumbled, but when she saw the two standing a few feet away from the tree her eyes widened. She cleared her throat, not taking her eyes off them. "Um, we were just so tired we slept in this tree instead of going home." She said, and Fang elbowed her. "I mean . . ."

"It's okay. We know who you guys are." Josh said. Max hung her head for a second and looked up. "Jeez, we seriously need to work on an alibi. How did you know we were in New York City? People think we're all over the world." Christine shuffled her feet. "Well, the files in Itex said this was your most likely place to be." This time Fang spoke. "How do those guys know that?" he hissed, making both Christine and Josh jump. By this time the rest of the Flock had been woken up, and were rubbing their eyes sleepily.

Angel stared at the both of them for awhile and turned to Max. "They want our help for something. I think we should." She whispered. Max looked curiously at Josh and Christine. "What does bring you here?" she asked. Christine sat down and started crying. Josh looked emotionally exhausted all of a sudden. "We came to you . . . because we're searching for someone. Our sister. Long story short, we have no idea where she is . . .," Josh swallowed. "If she's even alive." Max could see clearly what had caused these two pain. Itex she thought. You have brought on a war.
