The Skates- Chapter 1
Walking through the snow covered forests. I love this time of day, seeing the snow cover the trees, and sparkling off the light Sun. Also, the crisp air that froze in front of me with each exhale. Northern Minnesota was always like this in the winter, a snowy wonderland. That is what it is. This day however, I got an extra special moment, Nicole.
I was about to walk into the opening of the forest where IcicleLake was. I stopped though as I saw her, Nicole.
She was 13 years old. Buttoned up in a pink coat, the sparkly white skates sped around the lake with grace, and speed. She took a jump, and spun in the air. When she twirled, everything slew down. Her skates sparkled like diamonds, her eyelashes, which had frost on them, magnified, and her smile grew. I was about to run out there to meet her; However, I held back. She skated around the lake, and did another spin, landing another one perfectly. I had my skates, so, I took a dive. I tied my skates on, and skated out onto the ice.
My presence disrupted her spin, and she landed on the ice. I skated over to her, and helped her up. She gave me a grin of embarrassment. We looked each other in the eyes. She skated off, seeing if I would follow. Fortunately, I did. Being on the junior hockey team, helped me here. She power-skated around so that she was on the other half of the lake. I power-skated over to her. She let me do a twirl with her. During this, I felt everything was in it's place.
Both of our exhales met in the crisp air. She skated away to the center, and did a spin. This was a game now. She slowly skated away, waiting for me. I could do a spin. I know I could. I went to the center, and did the best spin I could with my 14-year old, 200 pound body. It must have looked weird, because, Nicole laughed.
She accepted it, and then did a double axel. I could try to do an axel, but a double; no. However, my mind was chasing a love. I skated up, jumped, and landed the first axel. I then moved my skates for a second axel. Right then, my feet entangled, and I fell on the ice. I thought she would walk off the ice to home. My brain however, told me to look up; I did.
I saw Nicole standing there with a smirk on her face, and a hand out. She helped me up. It was our first moment together. Right before we were both about to go, she skated up to me, put her arms around me, and put her lips on mine. The spark in the crisp cool air came from her. Nicole.
