Letters: Disclaimer: The usual

Trip Tucker unfolded the stack of letters he'd saved for years. Tears fell from his eyes as he read the familiar handwriting. Wiping his eyes, he unfolded the first letter:

Dear Daddy, It's so strange here on Earth. Everyone avoids me, and mutters `to themselves, giving me dark stares. Maybe I shouldn't have come. Maybe I should've gone to Vulcan. But then again, I would've been an outcast there too. Oh Daddy, I want nothing more than to go home. ~Alix

Trip was crying openly now, his tears once more staining the already tear- stained paper. He carefully folded it into it's envelope, and picked up the next one:

Daddy, I'VE MADE THE HURDLES TEAM! I'm so happy, although my triumph has been tainted by the team's whole hearted protests. I suppose I'll just live with their cold stares and stony silence. Maybe if I preform well, they'll defrost a little.

How're you and Mom? And everyone else? How's James Reed doing at UCLA? Hopefully all is well, ~Alix

Trip was sobbing by now, and pulled his pillow over his head for protection. He heard the door swish open and soft footsteps approached the bed. "Trip?" Her husky voice was soft and full of concern. Trip felt a hand on his shoulder, and he sat up, leaning into his wife's shoulder. She continued to rub his back with one hand, and picked up the pile of letters with the other. Her face went white, and Trip felt warm tears hit his back. He snuggled closely, knowing that she shared his pain. Pain, what an understatement. She picked up the next letter, and began to read aloud, her voice shaking with grief.

Mom and Daddy, Tomorrow I graduate, and although I know you won't be able to attend, I still hold a small hope that Captain Archer will let you come down, but only a small one. Please send my love to the "gang".

Love you, Alix

Trip couldn't deal with the memories- they were too painful. T'Pol grabbed his hand, making him realize that he wasn't alone in his grief.

Epilogue: Although it's been over ten years since the accident, it still doesn't ease the pain of knowing that they're daughter was gone forever. Trip and T'Pol were heartbroken, and still are. Who wouldn't be? Their girl was dead, and they hadn't been able to say good-bye. T'Alik "Alix" Tucker was gone for good.

Historical Statement: Ensign T'Alik Tucker was killed when her shuttle, on it's way back to Enterprise, was attacked by the Ferengi for a new engine system she was bringing home. She died on her 22nd birthday.
