Authors Note:
They say an artist's work is never really done, upon what is viewed as completion it is merely in an inalterable state, a visualization of an opinion, per se, and then it is passed along to the artistic community to be further elaborated upon.
Ain't that the truth.
When I began to write the second installment in the Umbrella Disaster series, I realized that the first story, though complete, in some ways, was very incomplete in others. Resident Evil is a storyline that I feel relies partly on a successful dialogue amongst its characters to remind those watching, reading or playing it how real a possibility each scenario is, as well as certain elements that can only be achievable via a video game. In a book you can follow the characters, as can you in a movie, and watch them solve the puzzles and find the pieces that make Resident Evil what it is, but you can't necessarily participate.
Because of that, I feel an element of Origins was lost on both myself and readers, until now.
After going back and re-reading my story, I have decided to release this, my "directors cut" in a sense, that includes many storylines and plot twists that I chose to leave out because, at the time, they didn't seem important enough to cause the story to be any longer then it already was.
This director's cut is divided into sections:
The Bravo Files – A brief look at the bravo team before liftoff on that fateful night. Their thoughts, discussions, and actions after their helicopter crashed, they got separated, and the terror was upon us. (Multi-perspective)
And Then There Was One – Richard Aiken's final commentary on life, trust, and a goodbye to those he loved after fighting and before succumbing to the poison of the Yawn.
Sleeper Cell – A single chapter outlining Chris and Rebecca's futile escape attempt from the cell Bryan placed them in.
What if? – An alternate ending. I was torn between this and the other one, but realized that going with this ending would have made the next story more complicated to write. Check it out.
If I think of anything else it'll be added to the list but these are some unfinished loose ends I wanted to tie up before officially closing Origins for good and starting Beyond Umbrella.
