Katie had bought a program that she wanted to install on her computer right away, but she also had a full shift at work that day, so Trip did what any good (tech-savvy) boyfriend would do and installed it for her. It hadn't taken too long, and he was about to turn it off when he notice a file named 'Deka'. Deka, Deka… why did that sound so familiar?

Oh, right-- that Japanese show Katie liked. She'd let him watch a couple of episodes not too long ago. And while the plot had been very… simplistic (although to be fair, Katie had said it was a children's show), it really hadn't been that bad. The giant robots had been worth watching it alone. Figuring Katie wouldn't mind if he checked to see if she had any other episodes, he clicked on the file.

There were a few video files, but what caught his eye was a Word document. 'Dekastory'.

Trip tapped the mouse button nervously. It was a well know fact that Katie was extremely private when it came to her writing (the last time Wes had swiped a manuscript from her hands, claiming that he was just going to proofread it for her, it… hadn't ended well for him), which made his discovery all the more tempting. All he had to was click the button, and he could see what kept Katie up at night, what made her eyes light up as she worked…

Trip finally gave in as he brought the file up. A quick peek couldn't hurt, right? He read the header. Spoilers for a certain episode, and the pairing was Ban and Hoji…

Wait. Weren't Ban and Hoji both guys?

Trip smiled, shrugged, and began to read.

All Katie wanted to do was forget her day at work. Luckily for her, Trip was still at her apartment, and he always helped her forget the less than wonderful parts of her day. "Hey, there," she said as she kissed her boyfriend briefly. "You okay? You look a little tense."

"Hm? Oh, I'm fine. Just fine." Trip smiled a little too brightly as he wrung his hands. "Wonderful, even."

"… If you say so." Katie put down her bookbag and headed for the kitchen. "So what do you want for--"

"Okay, Katie, let's just say that in theory I'd sort of found a story you'd written about a show…"

Katie felt the blood drain from her face. Oh no…

Trip kept going. "And even I knew I shouldn't have read it, I thought it was really good, and that I should tell you that-- and apologize for going through your stuff in the first place." Trip finally took a breath. "Sorry, Katie."

Katie glared at Trip… and then gave up. Even when she wanted to, it was hard to stay mad at him, especially when he looked that guilty. "Eh, don't worry about it." She tried to look casual as she rummaged through the fridge. "So, um… you really thought it was good?"

She could see Trip nod out of the corner of her eye. "Oh, yeah! I'm going to have to watch more just to see if Ban and Hoji were as blatant on the show as they were in your story."

Katie hid her face behind the fridge door. So, he'd read that fic, huh?

It was probably a good thing she hadn't written the R-rated half of it yet, then.
