Harvest

Late night; sky was a void save for those twinkle, twinkle little stars.

The air was cool. Autumn brought sweet, gentle breezes full of ripened promises. Nature's harvest was at hand.

Even the smooth-skinned humans were at their peak. Sun-kissed sweat and well watered with salt and chlorine. Worn muscles, saturated with the flavors cotton candy, BBQ, and hot dogs.

Axel's mouth watered as he ran against the wind. His imagination ran as wild as his soul. He could almost taste the juicy flesh of the meatbag race his kind pretended they were part of.

Temptation spiked; the runs were losing their calming effect.

It started at the base of his spine. A tingle in his groin. He would look at the plump girls that fawned over him and the others of the Five. Sexual heat flushed him until he was hard, blood painfully pumping to his cock. He imagined how warm and wet they would feel, fantasizing until it was their intestines he was fucking, and all that wetness on his erection and in his mouth was sugary copper.

He didn't tell Rafe or the others. He didn't even tell Vivian; naïve, adoring Vivian who would keep any and all of his secrets.

Part of him thought about giving her what she wanted; Rafe would get over the blow to his pride. Hell, Rafe had probably figured it out long ago who it was Vivian really wanted.

Vivian wasn't the greatest actress. She-wolves were horribly at playing vixens.

That was the problem though. She was one of them; Vivian, for her girlish curves and sweet nature, was like him. A wolf. A loup garou. A fellow beast; one of the privileged few blessed by the moon.

His tastes ran a little more deviant. He couldn't just have sex. He'd tried fucking one of the random girls in town. It had been excruciating; resisting the change, resisting the temptation to tear into her once his sexual lust was spent.

The blood lust didn't relent until he finally tracked down some stray mutt. Even then it only faded slightly; enough to cope. The parasite infested flesh hadn't squelched his hunger. Enough to survive; never satisfy.

Night was already fading; the black void sprinkled with flickering lights was brightening. The lights were fading.

The moon was leaving him, and dawn brought nothing but sour mist that taunted his empty belly.

Harvest was full of promise, but Axel would once again be left wanting. Nature tempted him; teased him. Autumn would pass swiftly, fade into cold, cruel winters.

They would fatten themselves up; he would watch them sweeten themselves up with their liquor and holiday feasts. Then spring would follow; they'd lean themselves down for summer. Skinnier, but perhaps healthier.

Did it even matter for their kind?

Not that he would ever find out.

Fragile leaves fell on his fur; the wind could no longer be called a breeze as he shrugged off the morning breeze.

Stupid, foolish laws. Stupid, foolish Ivan.

Axel wasn't going through another autumn disappointed. He was loup garou. He would taste human flesh, and he would finally know satiation.
