Disclaimer-- I don't own the characters of Tin Man

Through his life he had learned that nothing was concrete and nothing was given, so at times he just waited to discover that it was all a dream and that he was really alone. He never did lose his hold; still he figured if it was a dream he would do just about anything not to wake up.
It had taken a long time to convince him that he should be allowed a little happiness. He always thought that maybe he just shouldn't have been allowed to love at all. After all, very little good seemed to come to those he loved. It thrilled and amazed him even as he couldn't really believe it, but he could see it in her eyes. She believed it, and that mattered.
It had been two years since their wedding, four years since the eclipse, and five months since their son was born. Yet even after all that time there were still moments of doubt. It was then that the woman in his arms and the child in the bassinet would remind Cain that it was real, and it was forever.
