Feferi waited underneath the large light green Squiddle-print umbrella, taking in the sights around her. Jade had gone back into the cafe to grab another scone and left the abdicated empress-to-be with her umbrella. The rain fell in large drops around the sheltered troll girl as she mused about the weather. She was half tempted to close up the umbrella and let the drops fall on her skin. And yet it wasn't widely acceptable to just 'do' things out of the blue like that in human society, she had learned. Sighing, she fidgeted with the umbrella just as Jade skipped out of the cafe, a small paper bag in hand. She quickly ducked under the umbrella, sliding close to Feferi's side.

"Hope I didn't make you wait long, Feferi!" The human girl giggled, already tearing open the bag to retrieve her scone. Feferi smiled; it was always fairly easy to make Jade happy.

"Not really. In fact, I rather enjoy waiting in the rain," she said, giving a small laugh. The two of them started walking, absentmindedly discussing trivialities. Squiddles. The decision for both of them to move to the city. How delicious scones were. The ocean. Squiddles. How everyone else was. How they were doing. Who had hooked up, who might. Squiddles. The rain ceaselessly beat down on the umbrella, occasionally splattering on Feferi's or Jade's shoulder. Neither of them noticed how much time had passed until they had reached the apartment complex Jade lived in.

"So I'll see you later then, okay! Bye, Feferi!" Jade said. She quickly gave the troll girl a hug and rushed up the steps. It wasn't until she had slipped through the door had Feferi realized that she was still holding Jade's umbrella.

"Wait! Jade!" she called before realizing it was too late. She ran after the girl into the building, only to catch her just as she was about to enter an elevator in the lobby.

"Jade! You forgot your umbrella!" Feferi, exclaimed, clumsily trying to close the umbrella. Jade smiled, giving the other girl a hug.

"I didn't foget it."

"But-"

"If you hold on to it, there will always be a reason for me to come back to you." The elevator doors opened and Jade slipped inside, leaving a very happy and befuddled Feferi alone in the lobby clutching a light green Squiddle print umbrella.

AN: Gog I love author notes.
So, yes, I botched Feferi's personality. Yes, this was an ill-conceived drabble. Yes, I did it because there were no Jade/Fef fics on . Also, Jade/Fef is a good ship to be on.
This... was originally better. Really. I had it all plotted out in my mind. But then Tumblr happened, and I'm not sure what happened after that.
