He broke through her defenses. He tore down the wall that she had built to guard herself. It was a bit frightening not only to know that he had that ability but also to be, for the first time since she was a small child, stripped of all her defenses.

He was the first to see past the brave front she put up. She acted tough, but inside she craved something permanent, someone to live. She was a ninja on the outside, but she was kind to those closest to her.
