Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who.
A Matter Of Time.
"I give you one last chance." His voice rings out, so full of anger and rage and power. Demanding- commanding death, as he is the lord of it. A Death Lord. A look at his past may suggest he is just this, but the figure watching him- the figure from his future- knows he is not. For time is ticking, humming, ebbing away at his very core and leading him onwards. But time is not the boss of him. He is the boss of time; a Time Lord just beginning. An oncoming storm. The figure watching, in the shadows, knows this, knows who he is and who he will become; even if now he is so young and so angry and so... unfamiliar. He will be amazing, for he is the Doctor.
He looks on; red hot fire surrounds him, water drenching his skin to the core. Screams of the innocent echo from the abyss below. And still he stands like a stranger, watching them burn. And she watches him look on, hiding in the shadows undetected. He will not notice her watching today, nor will he notice the next time, or the time after that. She often watches him like this, the Doctor before she knew him. It's strange- like when you look at a photograph of someone, only its years before you knew them and they look... odd; like they've not quite finished cooking, they're not quite done yet. That's how she felt when she watched him, running around and saving the universe, time sprinting behind him, chasing. She did this a lot now she was getting older, travelling back, researching, and note taking, so that when the time came he would have everything he needed in his little blue book. The blue book he gave her, a very long time ago, and a very long time away.
The whole universe was waiting, waiting for time to catch up with him. Near the horizon, not too far away, there was a fixed point waiting for him, one that nobody could change. A fixed point that would change everything; the first time he would meet her. The last time she would see him, or anyone. The night she died. The night he got one step closer to becoming the Doctor- her Doctor. One step closer to falling in love.
It was just a matter of time.
Hope you enjoyed! p.s... I love reviews! ;)
