That Day
He hadn't used alchemy since that day. He couldn't. It hurt too much, and it reminded him of the people he had lost.
That day, he had killed. He had killed using alchemy. He killed using a tool that was supposed to help, to create, but he used it to destroy.
That day, he and the person he'd realized he'd loved almost shook hands. That day, that person had been sent across the Gate, had returned, and had sacrificed himself to restore his brother. That day, he lost the person who meant the most to him.
That day, he lost an eye. That day, he both avenged his best friend and let his friend's murderer cross the Gate ahead of that person.
That day.
That day two years ago was the beginning of a new era and the end of his life, for he could never truly live without him.
Disclaimer: I don't own FMA.
Author's Note: My original copies got out of order, causing me to mess up the order I uploaded my flash fics. This was written before "Flame" and "Advada Kedavera" but after "Debt" (other FMA fanfictions and a Harry Potter one).
