It's over. The world is how it should be. Katara reminded herself. Mai loves Zuko, Aang loves her. Mai and Zuko are together, Aang and her are finally together. Fixing what was destroyed after the war was easier than anyone expected, but if everything was as it should be,why is she doing this?

Every night... the fever between them began all over again and the sparks would fly. Fevers and sparks that they never got close to feeling with Mai and Aang. And then at the end of those nights she would sob to herself for being such a wicked person. But it was his fault as much as it was hers. He was the one that called out to her; he was the one that, despite the horrible burn, looked more beautiful to her than anyone.

Why are we doing this? she thought to herself when she was, like every other night, with him. I care about Aang. He cares about Mai. But why...? His lips skimmed over hers and these thoughts were immediately banished to the depths of her mind. They'd be back to haunt her once her pulse was done spiking and the wildfire between them had burned its way through for tonight.

"You look troubled," he simply replied. "What's wrong?"

"This..." her watery, cobalt eyes stared back at him. "If they find out... Even if they don't. Zuko, we're horrible people for doing this."

"If you want to leave, I understand..." Zuko said. Truly, that was the last thing on earth that he wanted, but if it was to make her happy...

"No, it's just... why are we doing this to them?" To ourselves. The denial undoubtedly existed between the two. Neither one wanted to admit that they weren't in love with Mai or Aang; somewhere along the line...they had fallen in love with eachother...

A melancholy sigh left his lips before they skimmed against the flesh of her ear. "I'm thinking about leaving Mai," he whispered, a slight bit of lust tainting his voice.

"Zuko, you can't," Katara sobbed. "She loves you..."

Silence. The tension was expanding, taking over the place of the air... Finally someone spoke. "But I don't love her, Katara," Zuko retorted before letting out an exaperated sigh. "I love you. Why shouldn't I be with the one I love?" The cycle of denial had broken.

"Zuko," she meekly voiced out, "we can't... we shouldn't..." His pale hands ghosting across her skin is all it took for her voice to fade out. She loved him to. In every right she should love Aang, but damn it all, she wanted Zuko.

His hands stole her breathe as he continued his caresses...for a breif moment, the world was theirs. They didn't have to act anymore. They could finally be who they wanted to be. With who they wanted to be.

"Katara," he murmured, his saffron eyes meeting her cobalt ones. "Do we have to go back to them?"

"Zuko...we have to. As much as I care... as much as I love you, we can't just abandon them..." The pained look his eyes reflected back said all that needed to be said. "I'm sorry..."

"I know, I know. Promise me, once we can be together we will be..."

She nodded. "We will be." But for now we're sinners. The world would look down upon us. If they only knew...

"You're my favorite sin."

A/N: Feedback would be wonderful as this is my first Avatar fanfic and it feels a little rushed to me.
