)(A Forgotten Memory)(

-

Chihiro walked down the street, listening to her friends laugh about an inside joke.

She'd recently moved to new town. A new home, a new school; new friends.

For some reason, she and her parents had arrived at her house almost a week later than they had thought. No one knew why. To them, it was an unsolved mystery. To her, it was like a nagging feeling, like you think you've forgotten something, but you can't be sure.

"Hey! Chihiro! What do you think of this?" Kisa called to the girl, motioning for her to come and look at something.

Chihiro walked over. The other girls were standing in front of a shop window. They motioned to a shirt.

"Hey, isn't this like the shirt she wore when she first came to our class?" Roxy, another transfer student, but from America, faced Kisa.

Kisa contemplated. "Hmm. I thought the shirt she wore was green and white..."

Chihiro looked at the shirt. It was very similar to the shirt the others were talking about, she could give them that. But this one was pink and white, instead.

"I don't really... like it..." She turned to face her 'friends'. Both of them were still discussing Chihiro's clothes on her first day.

)(After their Outing)(

-

Chihiro lay down on the grass, staring up at the sky. She loved it here; it made her feel calm and gave her a chance to think about things. And the first thing she always thought about...

"Chihiro? Is that really you?"

Chihiro turned with a start, surprised to hear that voice. She didn't know this person, but he looked and sounded familiar...

"Ko...Haku?" She stared at the boy in front of her now. He had short, neatly trimmed green-brown hair. His eyes were a pale green.

He nodded. "Chihiro... you forgot, didn't you?"

"Forgot what?!" She stood up, scared. "How do you know my name? How do I know yours?!"

"Chihiro, calm down..."

Chihiro stared at him. "You're from... Yubaba' bathhouse?"

He nodded again.

"Wait. Who the hell is Yubaba?! Ah! I'm sorry, but I don't know you, but I get the feeling I'm supposed to know you, but I don't and I'm sorry and I've got to go, and..."

The boy stepped forward. Chihiro flinched and put her arms up protectively.

When she took her arms away, she jumped. "He's... gone?" She looked up as a gust of wind rushed past her. She could have sworn she'd seen something like a large white snake with legs up there. "I'm going mad. I'm losing it..."

Chihiro sat down, sighing.

"Chihiro... you forgot, didn't you?"

"What did he mean? I've... met him before, but I don't remember..." She got up, stretching. "Haku... Nigihayami Kohaku Nushi..." Her eyes widened. "Who the hell is that?! Who would have such a long name?! And how come I thought of it?!"

"That's my name. I'm a river God."

"Huh?" She looked around. "Who...?" Chihiro shook her head. "No way. I'm definitely ill. I'm gonna go home and tell mum... but maybe that dragon can be my friend... at least when I'm ill no one will suspect if I talk to imaginary friends... when did I even make him up?" Chihiro walked away, talking to herself. She stopped at the park gate, quickly looking into the sky. "Come visit me again, Mr. Dragon man... Nigihayami Kohaku Nushi."

)(The End)(

Mit-chan: Aww! I thought it was sweet!

Jessie: It was, wasn't it?

Chihiro: Who's... Nihayami... Nigiyimi... Um... Mr. Dragon man?

Haku: She forgot me...

Chihiro: Ack! -points to Haku- It's the freaky dude with green hair!

Mit-chan: Oh dear...

Jessie: Thank you for reading and please review!
