Emily sat on a bench. She looked around and waited for Tammy and Addison to get to the park. She looked expectantly at the entrance, but no one was there but her frienemy, Veronica. Then she glanced at Brandon, her crush since middle school.
Then, she heard her name. "Emily!" It was Addison. Addison had orange hair and purple, yes, purple eyes. She was wearing a cream-colored v-neck, short jean shorts, and her favorite Vans. She sat down next to Emily and looked back. "Tammy's on her way," she stated. "She dropped her purse in the road and some bicycler ran it over." Addison and Emily laughed.
"I'm here!" Tammy yelled from behind them. Tammy had dark skin and brown eyes and hair. She had on a yellow one-shoulder top with a white tank top underneath. She had a jean skirt on and white flats. "Scootch!" She said to Emily and she scooted her over to sit down.
Tammy fixed her pigtails and looked in Brandon's direction. "Oh my gosh, Emily! It's Brandon!" Emily nudged Tammy in the stomach and she automatically shut up.
"So why'd you call us here?" Addison asked, changing the subject. Emily sighed. "I saw something weird yesterday," she said. "There was this guy about our age. He was hiding in a bush, his legs hidden. But when he came out of the bush, I saw that he had goat legs and hooves!" She exclaimed. Tammy looked at her. "You're out of your mind, Em."
"I'm serious!" She said, obviously offended. "I really did see it!" Addison sighed. "Emily, there's no such thing as a freshman with goat legs." Emily narrowed her eyes. "I saw it with my own two eyes!" "Maybe he was riding on a goat," Tammy suggested. "Tammy, why would a 14 year old be riding on a goat?" asked Addison. Tammy shrugged. "Why wouldn't he?"
Emily pulled down her blue beanie over her face. "Ugh!" She exclaimed. "You know what?" She whipped her jet-black hair in anger. "Forget I mentioned it." She stomped off towards the exit and Tammy and Addison exchanged a look of worry.
Emily sat down frustrated at a picnic table. Then the guy she saw the other day sat at the table next to her. He's following me, she thought. But he doesn't have goat legs! Maybe Tammy and Addison are right; maybe I am going crazy. The guy looked at her. He seemed to be sniffing the air. Then his eyes widened in alarm. Emily sniffed the air, too, but didn't smell anything. She shrugged and ignored him.
"Emily! We're sorry!" Tammy and Addison bounded into the picnic area. They panted and looked pleadingly at Emily, as if begging her to accept her apology. "Fine, I accept. Sometimes ADHD makes me defensive."
The guy's eyes widened even more as he sniffed the air again. "Three," She heard him mumble. What could that mean? She shook the thought off and turned back to her friends.
"We forgive you," Addison said, relieved. Tammy copied the expression. "Thanks, guys." Emily was happy that the whole thing had blown over. "Maybe I was going crazy," she said. "Like you said, Addison, there's no such thing as a goat boy."
The guy almost doubled over. Tammy seemed to notice. "What's with him?" she asked, gesturing towards him. Emily shrugged. "No clue." "No such thing as a goat boy, huh?" The guy stood up out of the seat. Addison raised one eyebrow. "Whoa, dude! Why so offensive?"
The guy calmed down. "N-nothing," he stammered. "Just nothing." He limped out of the room on crutches. "What was that about?" Tammy asked with bewilderment. "Who knows?" Emily shrugged. "Probably some madman. Come on, let's go home."
