Author's Note: this is a poem I wrote for my LA class, inspired by Rainer Maria Rilke (my favorite poet of all time) and his poem "Love Song". It's about the way Snape feels for Lily. Haven't written Harry Potter in awhile, and never put up any poetry before. Hope you like it!

Disclaimer: I do not own Lily Evans Potter, or Severus Snape. Alas, what a sad day.

Devotion

How might I hold my heart, so that

You might see it? How shall I carry it

So it no longer throbs and aches?

Nothing would please me more than to join

Our hearts together and paint them vibrant and alive

With memories and songs.

And yet, all I can paint on my own is

Silver scar tissue and purple bruises.

For you, I would do anything necessary.

For you, I would take down

The moon so night never came, and you

Would never be frightened of the shadows.

For you, I would stand guard forever

And protect even the things I despise.

For you, my love, my flower,

I would do anything necessary.

O the bitterest of melodies.

Drop me a line and tell me what you think!
