MASH - Prompt no. 1: Beginnings
"Dum-dee-dum-dum…" Hawkeye hummed as he added the final touches to the still. The tubes already glistened wetly with the beginnings of the makeshift alcohol, and the socks that were stuffed into the filter were looking mangier than when they were forced into the narrow space.
"Hullo!" said a bright voice from outside the tent. The door opened, and a curly-haired head poked in, followed by a tall, stocky body clothed in operational whites. He straightened up, and Hawkeye found out that Mr. Curly had about an inch over him. He stuck out his hand and said, "Name's John McIntyre. Call me Trapper."
Hawkeye shook his hand firmly, and then gestured to the still. "Feel free to indulge anytime."
Trapper's eyes lit up, and a smile slowly spread across his face. "Is that moonshine?"
Hawkeye grinned. "Filtered through socks that have spent a week on a 300-pound Marine's feet."
Trapper was smiling widely by now. "This is the beginning of a beautiful relationship."
