Mum's New Boyfriend

Roxanne Weasley stared at the chestnut wardrobe. Her face was pale with rage. Her normally kind blue eyes might have looked like ice chips to an outside observer.
There was a knock on the door, and her mum peeked in. Angelina's dark hair was tied in a severe bun, but her face still showed soft compassion. "Roxie, are you ready to talk?"
"Go away!" Roxie screamed. She wished she could throw something at her mum's head, but it would only be pushed away by magic. What was the point if it wouldn't do any damage anyways?
Instead of leaving, Angelina came into the room fully. "I know this feels like a betrayal to you-"
"It is a betrayal. Not just to me but to Fred and Dad as well!"
Pain flashed across her mum's face.
Good! She should feel pain.
"Roxie, your dad and I divorced, I know you hate it, but it's the truth. We were bound to start relationships with other people. Just because I started dating someone first-"
"Uncle Lee! You're dating Dad's best friend."
"I know, and I know your dad is hurt, and that's the last thing I wanted to do."
"Then why do it?" Roxanne whispered.
Someone else came to the doorway. "Because love is a magnificent and weird thing. It can't be tamed."
"Lee," I told you to stay out! Gold here," Angelina admonished.
"I know, but I thought I might be able to help." He walked into the room so he stood next to Angelina. "Roxie, I know you must hate me right now. And I imagine your dad and brother hate me as well. You have to know I never wanted to fall in love with your mum. And I know she didn't start feeling things for me until after she was divorced from your dad."
Roxanne's forehead scrunched as she gazed appraisingly at Lee. "She didn't?" She looked at her mum. "You didn't?"
"Honey, did you think I left your dad for Lee?"
She wordlessly nodded.
"No, no, I didn't. I began spending more time with him after the divorce was final. That's when feelings developed."
Roxanne crossed her arms over her chest. "I still hate it."
Angelina opened her mouth, but Lee's gentle hand on her shoulder stopped her.
He smiled at the glowering girl. "You have every right to hate me. Just know that I care about your mum very much, and I will do whatever I can to make her happy. That being said, I care about you and Fred as well, and if I can do anything to help the two of you deal with this, I will. Any requests?"
Roxanne didn't even have to think about it. "No sleepovers."
Angelina and Lee shared a look. He nodded, and she returned it.
"For now, no sleepovers," Angelina agreed.
Roxanne nodded even as her mind began working. 'Now I just have to figure out a way to get Mum and Dad back together and Lee out of the picture.'
