It was bound to happen eventually. The war for New York City had gotten too out-of-hand for it not to. The two sides involved had fought endlessly, one to create an empire that spanned the Earth, while the other was honor-bound to stop them. It wouldn't take a seer to predict that soon one side would face a casualty that it could not come back from. Sadly, the Hamato family faced this first.

It all happened so fast. One minute Donnie was fine, but in the next he was surrounded by two of the Shredder's fiercest henchmen. Bebop had picked up a keyboard and smacked it across Donatello's face before he even had time to react. The turtle fell to the ground, and soon found himself pinned between Rocksteady's feet with a hammer raised over his body.

Then it was finished.

His brothers and sensei found him minutes later, but they were too late. The genius of their family was dead. The war took a turn for the worst. The Hamatos couldn't cope with their loss and were forced to retreat deep into the sewers, barely escaping Shredder's wrath. At last, with no one to stop him, the Shredder assumed control of New York.

One Year Later

Though he had taken over the city, Shredder was still not satisfied. He wanted the Turtles and Hamato Yoshi eliminated for good so that they would never have even the slightest chance of defeating him again. So he sent for Baxter Stockman, and challenged the scientist to come up with a plan that would not only destroy the Hamatos, but take over the world as well.

Stockman worked day and night until he finally came up with a solution. He presented it to the Shredder the next day, displaying a vial of glowing golden liquid that he claimed could raise the dead. The Shredder saw the potential in such a weapon, and agreed to fund its making on the condition that it was tested first. Baxter Stockman had smiled at that, He knew the perfect test subject.

Shredder's warriors were once again approaching the Turtle's lair, but this time they came for an entirely new reason. They hunted around for hours until finally coming across what they were looking for. In front of them was a tombstone, on which were engraved these words:

R.I.P

Hamato Donatello

A Son, A Brother, A Warrior

And a Friend

The soldiers made haste and dug up the gravesite, disregarding all the effort put in to construct it. As soon as they finished, one of the men threw the body over his shoulder, and ran back to his master with his prize.

Baxter Stockman examined his captive with glee. At last he would be able to test his serum and prove to his master once and for all that he wasn't worthless. He stepped over to the lifeless body strapped to a cold metal table, and injected his mixture into its neck. Now all there was left to do was wait.

Stockman sat waiting for days, until he was ready just to give up on the project entirely. He then heard a soft gasp, and whipped around in surprise. There staring at him were a pair of large, frightened brown eyes.
