Chapter One
He looked at her. She smiled. They knew. Knew they should be together…
"Isn't it a pity that all romances don't work like that?" Ron Weasley thought, as he looked over at his ex-girlfriend, Laura Potter, in Potions class.
Laura was his best friend's twin sister, his best friend being Harry Potter. Laura had been recently brought to Hogwarts by her adoptive parents, Mr. And Mrs. Lynch. She was a member of the Slytherin house but she was definitely not your stereotypical Slytherin. She was kind and brainy. Nobody knew the reason why she was placed in Slytherin. She escaped Voldemorts attack because she wasn't in the house at the time of it. She was at a playmates house. After her parent's death, she was taken into care and, recently, had been discovered by Professor Dumbledore. Laura was extremely pretty, with jet black hair and green eyes. She did not wear glasses.
"Ooh, so does that mean you fancy Harry too, eh?" Fred Weasley had remarked when he found out about Ron's crush on her. Soon enough they got together but, soon afterwards, Laura found love in her housemate, Draco Malfoy. Harry and Hermione thought this was quite funny but Ron wouldn't just get over it.
That day, in double Potions, Ron spent about 10 minutes at the start of class staring at Laura and Malfoy playfully messing with each other and kissing each other. That was, until Snape entered the class, unusually late.
"Right, Weasley. Turn around. Ms. Potter, Mr. Malfoy, save it for the common room." Snape turned to Harry.
"Potter! What are you doing? Are you writing that essay that I gave you on "Brewing and Using a Potion"? Detention. My office. Tonight. Now could everyone who bothered to do the essay, take it out. Ms. Potter, read yours please."
Laura went red. "Oh, sir, I forgot to bring it with me. I left it in our common room." Snape nodded. "That's alright". Harry gasped. Laura shot an apologetic look at him. Snape looked at Harry. "MR. POTTER! Turn around IMMEDIATELY!"
After Potions, Laura approached Harry, Ron and Hermione.
"Hey, Harry. Hey Hermione." She looked at Ron, not sure what to say. "Ron" she nodded at him.
Hermione and Harry smiled at Laura and Ron acted as if he didn't see her.
"So, who are you guys taking to the end-of-term ball?"
Harry shrugged and Hermione said "Fred Weasley". Ron and Harry looked her, surprised. It was Hermione's turn to shrug.
"He asked, I accepted."
Laura smiled. "That's cute." She looked at Ron.
"Ron, how about you?" Ron shrugged.
Harry quickly jumped in. "So do you want to come to Hogsmeade with us tomorrow? Hermione wants to get a new robe to wear to the ball." Laura nodded.
"Ok! Anything to get me away from Pansy Parkinson. She does my head in! You two better get dates to the ball. It IS tomorrow night, and everything". Ron shrugged. " I'm going solo." Harry said "I'm not! Hey, Ginny." He yelled across the corridor. Fancy coming to the ball with me?" Ginny smiled. "Ok." And she walked off, grinning like a Cheshire cat.
The four of them had just reached Transfiguration.
The whole school was brimming with excitement about the ball…except Ron. But little did he know, things were going to go well.
