Reo smiled brightly as he hugged Sara, who was giggling at the motion in happiness. Mabu was looking at them while dropping some documents on the table, taking a break on his work to enjoy the moment. Reo rushed towards him and pulled his arm, making him stand up with confusion.
"Come on! You are always so busy, Sara misses you!", the blonde haired man said.
"I'm this busy because you leave all the work to me." Mabu complained, but didn't refuse taking little Sara between his arms, a smile appearing on his lips. He couldn't be happier. He was with his husband and their adoptive daughter, and both of them ment everything to Mabu. He lived for them, with no doubt.
"Mabu." Reo called him out, leaning to reach Mabu's face, still with Sara cuddling between them, and kissed his love softly. Mabu thought it will end there, but Reo continued pressing his lips against him's, not pretending to move away anytime soon. "Reo," Mabu interrupting him, "Wait just a moment, Sara is..."
Both of them looked back to the child, who had her eyes closed and sleeped peacefully. How was she able to fall asleep so fast like that? No one knew.
"See? No problem, right?" Reo placed Sara on the sofa and turned back to Mabu, who sighed sonorously. "I have work to do. You will have to make up with just some minutes, okay?"
"Huh? Are you telling me that I have a time limit to love you? Aww, that's mean!"
"Don't nag about it. It should be enough by now, right?"
"Well... I guess so. It's better than nothing."
They smiled again and went back to soft and short kisses, brushing their lips against each other's lips, cheeks and foreheads. Mabu took gently Reo's hands between his, getting awkward as he tried to say something he couldn't. His husband noticed this and asked, "What's wrong?"
Mabu met his gaze, those green, deep eyes he loved so much, and softly whispered: "Not much. I was only... Remembering."
Reo slowly stroke Mabu's hair, while still kissing his jaw and cheeks. "What did you remember?"
As he noticed that his contrary remained silent, Reo stopped his actions and simply looked at him, also meeting his precious, almost perfect eyes he loved so much. Finally, Mabu answered, "I recalled when I... well, when I died, and turned into a simple doll."
"You are wrong." Reo interrupted him. "You weren't a simple doll. I just didn't realize how you felt. I'm sorry." Reo's voice's was starting to tremble in a apologetic tone, really feeling bad for what he'd done.
"No..." Mabu caressed Reo's hands nicely between his. "It was my fault. You saved me again, and thanks to you we are here, living happily with Sara. This wouldn't have been possible without you. That's why I want to properly thank you and show you how much you mean to me."
Reo pressed his forehead against Mabu's and closed his eyes. "I already know, and I feel the same. Thanks for being with me."
They both smiled and kissed once more. They really had to overcome a lot of hardships to reach where they were, but now all of it seemed like nothing. They reward was more than they could ever ask for. In fact, they didn't know if they deserved that happiness, with all the people they'd killed and hurt. However, that didn't matter anymore. This was their happiness, fair or not, and they weren't willing to let it go ever.
