Note From The Author— This contains mild spoilers for the episode that aired May 14th. So, the last line may be a teeny tiny bit out of character for Reid, but it was the only thing I could think when I was watching the latest episode and I just had to write something : )

Disclaimer-- I don't own the characters of Criminal Minds

The defense attorney had never seen it coming. He certainly wasn't the first to question the merits of their profession, but after the dressing down Hotch gave him , Reid had no doubt that he would be the last to question for some time.

Charcoal grey. Those two words would prove to be the undoing of his entire argument. Reid just sat there and watched, smiling, as Hotch had revealed every dirty little secret the attorney was attempting to hide, from his fake Rolex to his attempts to overcome his financial hardships through the horse races.

For a moment he could see that the attorney thought he would overcome the embarrassment. Yet even as he tried to write it off as guess work, Hotch had casually commented about the latest race results coming any moment.

Then the Blackberry had buzzed, and Reid could practically feel everyone gawking in amazement. When his boss looked at the defense attorney and calmly suggested that he tell them if his luck was changed, he could only come to one conclusion. Aaron Hotchner was a total rock star.
