A/N: I was listening to Greenday and this scene popped into my head. For some reason I just had to write this so here it is. The song is Whatshername by Greenday.

The Kazekage sat at his desk. It was already 11-o-clock, but he didn't feel at all tired. He had been working on some financial issues for hours and his legs were cramping. He decided to get up and take a break. He left his office and walked down the hallway. He passed all the usual rooms; the guest bedroom, Kankuro's room, the library, and another one. The door to this one had always been closed, and frankly, Gaara had forgotten what was behind it. He walked up to it and quietly turned the handle. It was a rather small room full of dusty bookshelves and a small desk. He investigated the old, leather-bound volumes on the shelves. His hand ran over one that intrigued him. It said 'Photo Album' on the label. He took it down, sat at the desk, and opened it. It was full of pictures that had been taken when he and his siblings were still young. He sighed. He remembered those days when he was twelve, but that was fifteen years ago. He flipped through the pages and found one of him, Kankuro, and another girl. Who was she again?
Thought I ran into you down on the street.
Then it turned out to only be a dream.
I made a point to burn all of the photographs.
She went away and then I took a different path.
That's right. She was his sister. What happened to her again? Of course, she ran off to Konoha ten years ago. Two years after he had become Kazekage, she felt she wasn't needed in Suna anymore and she had left the family. What was her name again?
I remember the face but I can't recall the name.
Now I wonder how Whatshername has been.
He pulled the photo out of the album and looked on the back. It said Gaara, Kankuro, Temari, Kazekage inauguration. Now he remembered. Her name was Temari. This picture had been taken right after his inauguration as Kazekage.
Seems that she disappeared without a trace.
Did she ever marry ol' Whatshisface?
Things seemed to have been going okay for awhile, but then she started to get depressed. Gaara and Kankuro had become very close as brothers, but Temari grew more distant. She had had her eye on that guy from Konoha for awhile. Perhaps he was part of the reason she left?

Gaara couldn't believe how much he had forgotten about Temari. He hadn't seen her in so long, she almost felt like a stranger to him. Why didn't he remember the scenes in the photographs?

He sighed. So much has changed. The days of Shukaku were long gone, and so it seemed Temari was too.

Gaara closed the book and returned it to the shelf. He took a moment to stretch before heading to bed. It was late, and he would have a lot to do in the morning.
Eventually he forgot again.
There was nothing to remember.
