He had always had his reservations about this quest. No one knew where Wanda was, or what she had really done. But after seeing how much it meant to Billy, and then to Tommy, he held his tongue. It wasn't their fault that he had lost his memories after all. It wasn't their fault he didn't have a place in this world.
It really shouldn't have bothered him, though. He wasn't even the same hardware as his older version. He was his own self with his own life and his own unrequited crush. And it really shouldn't have mattered that Wanda used to love him but was now in the arms of another. He was way too young anyway. Never mind the silly leap of hope when Billy introduced her, telling them that she had lost her memory.
Like he had.
But it was easy to see that nothing was going to happen with them. She didn't even give him a second glance. And why should she? He was just a color confused empty shell of an android. It was a fluke that his programming even stuck to Iron Lad's old, discarded suit.
He shouldn't have come back.
None of that mattered now; all of his carefully crafted excuses shattering when she regained her memory. She hugged her boys, still ignoring him. Tommy and Billy weren't his kids anyway. He was Vision 2.0, a clean slate. He hid himself away after her non-greeting, staying back by Eli. Cassie didn't want him. She had Nate and now her dad with her. Wanda wouldn't help him remember like she had, so that family was gone too. He ran through his programming, metaphorically running his finger over the code that would remove his emotions.
He would finish this battle, but if someone didn't give him a reason to allow himself to say vulnerable to this pain, he would activate the code.
Emotions were interrupting his calculations anyway.
