A/N. In Season 7, Episode 14 "Smooth Criminal" I noticed that Mac is on Adam's phone as speed dial 2. This made me wonder who was speed dial 1… then I decided it was Danny. The usual AU rules apply (Not married, no kid etc) Hope you like.
Adam sighed as he sank into his couch. It had been a long day. Closing his eyes momentarily, Adam steeled his resolve; he wasn't going to call. For once, he wanted to be the one who answered a call. He wanted to be the calm one; the one who was doing the reassuring instead of being reassured. With another soft sigh, Adam picked up his phone. It was no use; he was weak. That didn't matter though, he knew, because Danny didn't care that he always called first. Danny was happy to hear his voice, and he didn't mind when he had to spend half the night gently coaxing Adam to talk to him. Hitting 1 on his phone, Adam took a deep breath before pressing 'call' and putting the phone to his ear.
"Messer."
"Hey Danny, it's me." Adam didn't say anymore, and after a few long seconds of silence, Danny spoke.
"I'll be there in twenty minutes."
"Danny, you don't have to-"
"See you soon, Adam." Danny hung up, and Adam couldn't help smiling. So few words and Danny knew Adam needed him. Closing his eyes, Adam let his head fall back. Before he knew it, he was asleep.
A knocking on the door woke Adam with a start. Getting up slowly, Adam opened the door and was immediately pulled into a kiss by Danny. Hugging Danny tightly, Adam kissed back; sighing softly and kicking the door shut. They parted slowly, and Adam leaned his forehead against Danny's shoulder.
"You wanna talk about it?" Danny said softly. Adam sighed again, burrowing closer into Danny's neck.
"It's just been a really long day," Adam answered.
"C'mon," Danny pulled away from Adam and led the younger man towards the stairs. "Let's get some sleep." Adam could only nod and follow along. He was glad he called. It may make him seem weak to others, but Adam loved Danny, and Danny loved taking care of him. The CSI also knew Adam was too stubborn to ask most of the time, so the trust he showed in calling was an affirmation for both of them.
When they got to the bedroom, Adam immediately went over to the bed, pulling Danny with him. Danny stopped long enough to toe off his shoes before he let Adam tug him down onto the bed. They took a moment to get comfortable before, wrapped in each others arms the way lovers should be, both men fell into a deep, dreamless sleep.
