Callie-Rose
Callie-Rose
"come on mum it's the first day of high school," I said for about the ten millionth time "I don't want to be late!"
"Callie-Rose if we left now we would be about half an hour early, none of your friends will be there you'll be bored stiff" complained mum she ruffled my neat hair which was stretched back in a tight ponytail I was annoyed she was always so slow!
"I don't care I've got a book to read and it will take me forever to find my form room, a lot has changed since your time mother," I said sarcastically even though it wasn't that long ago that she started high school. I wasn't ashamed of her in any way, I knew she loved my dad so much that her heart was torn in two because he died, I never knew him but I wish he was here to comfort me on this horrible day. I was excited to see my friends but nervous that I would get lost and make a fool of myself as I always did. There was only one person who could get me through this day and that was grandma Meggie McGregor, she was so loving it was like she was more than my mum she was my best friend. I didn't get along well with people in my school because of the colour of my skin, but my teacher says it's the beginning of something new between the hateful world of noughts and crosses there's me and other tanned skinned people who are placed nowhere in this society, who are individuals, who can't be classed and thrown to the sidelines.
"okay lets go if your that excited," said mum she had finally given up, she always did because I always won the arguments, I can't see why we have them anymore but what kind of family would we be if we didn't have a few disagreements?
"yes! what car are we going in mum? I want it to look stylish, yet not flashy if you know what I mean, Is my hair and uniform alright, oh i hope i don't look too nerdy!" I was like that for all the journey to my NEW school, I checked my bag at least five times before i calmed down. I could tell my mum was getting annoyed at me so I shut up.
"okay honey we're here i hope you have a great day i'll pick you up at around half past three, tommorrow you can go on the bus, remeber try your best and try not to get lost!" My mum had explained all this before but i was still listening as closley just in case i forgot, I was like that you see I would forget my head if it wasn't screwed on properly.
"I will, don't worry i'll be fine, i'll see you later then and mum thanks for taking me i wouldn't of survived on the bus!" I knew at that moment I would not be fine because when mum left school campus i felt like the same scared little girl I was in primary school.
