A/N Gilijah have been heavy on my mind and this is what I wrote to make me feel better at 2 in the morning. LoL

Completed for now b/c I'm awful at updates. Happy reading.

Elijah Mikaelson honestly thought he was going insane. Surrounded by the commotion of music and people he caught a glimpse of someone that could not be. Had he been spelled? Was he poisoned and having delusions? His mind screamed there was no possible way, but his heart skipped a beat every time she disappeared only to reappear in the corner of his eye. Try as he might with his vampire speed and instincts he could not find her. Maybe it was just the trick of the lighting? How he wished there was something he could've done, but the guilt over not protecting her enough will stay with him for the rest of his eternity.

As if the gods and goddesses deemed him worthy of mercy his line of sight was cleared and he saw her retreating figure about to leave the party. He rushed forward, hailing her as he followed out the door.

"Gia?" When the dark haired beauty turned to him, Elijah could not help himself. He walked right up to her. Gathered her warm body against him with one arm and with his other hand gently lifted her face and kissed her.

He felt her slightly push at him so he reigned in his enthusiasm, but did not let her go.

"I'm sorry, but you've mistaken me for someone else."

"No, you being here cannot be a mistake. I have the chance to apologize for not protecting you against my brother. To make up for not making you a priority." As he spoke she just shook her no.

"Gia, my darling Gia." Elijah wanted to taste her again, but this time she pushed him away with a bit more force and he begrudgingly let go. She stood before him, hands on hips in frustration.

"Look, I already told you I'm not who you think I am. I know who it is you want me to be, but I'm not her!"

Her words sobered Elijah like a bucket of ice water. It was in that moment his wits came back to him. His sense of hearing felt the distinct beating in her chest. He now realized why she was so warm to his touch was because she is human.

"You turned around when I called you Gia?" She closed her eyes in contemplation before facing him which reminded Elijah so much of his Gia.

"It's my name." She could see he was becoming angry and Elijah was. He had wanted so much to have his Gia returned to him and for a fleeting moment he thought she had.

"You're telling me the woman I knew, trusted, love lied to me?" Gia shook her head in disagreement.

"I'm sure she had her reasons for giving you a false name. As I'm sure whatever she was doing here in New Orleans meant something to her."

Elijah wanted answers to questions he didn't even know he had, but before he could interrogate she continued.

"Don't let me take away anything you had with her. I'm the stranger, ok and I'm leaving so just keep remembering her as you do with fond memories." She turned to walk away.

"I'm sorry, but I can't let you leave." She turned on him with a fury. Another trait that reminded him so much of his Gia.

"You can't stop me so don't even try." Once again she started to walk away, but this time Elijah was in front of her staring in her eyes.

"My darling Gia you will not leave me. Again." The last word was whispered, but heard none the less. Elijah held her hand and guided her to the sanctuary of his place in Algiers. He didn't care if his actions were unbecoming. He needed her whether she was his Gia or not?
