Chapter 1

Meredith looked around her new life. She had finally gotten away from Boston and made her way to Seattle where she would start her long residency. She looked at her mother's old house and admired the scratches that reminded her of an evening she had tried to forget. It would be burned in her brain for as long as she lived. She felt her eyes start to tear up.

No meredith we need to get to our first day of work. We can't show up crying. Get it together.

Meredith got in her run down old car that she had since high school. She looked at the stains of the car seats. She tried to keep it out of her mind by distracting herself. A guy with shiny black hair, deep blue eyed that Meredith found herself staring into, yells stop and she slams on the breaks.

"Hey Hey! You almost hit me!"

"Oh my gosh i'm so sorry" meredith climbs out of her car and sticks out her hand. "I'm meredith."

He shakes her hand obviously still a little shaken up.

"I'm derek"

Meredith gets back into her car and goes to park it as Derek watches her. He is just staring at her. He kind of hoped she was one of the new interns so he would have an excuse to talk to her. He sees his best friends Mark and Addison. He walks up to them as they all three walk into the hospital.

"I just almost got run over by a beautiful woman"

Mark and Addison get shocked faces and start checking him out to make sure he has no injuries.

"Guys I'm fine. Well i'm not fine. Do you guys believe in love at first sight?"

Mark gets a questioning look on his face.

"I do but Derek Shepherd does not. Where is he? Have you seen him sir?"

Derek rolls his eyes and his pager starts going off. It's 911. He starts running down the hall way and him and Meredith collide.

"Oh my gosh i'm so sorry. I got paged 911."

"it's fine i almost ran you over remember."

Derek chuckles and then remembers he has to go and takes off. Meredith watches him. She loves the way he looks. His voice takes over her. She's never felt this way. She's came close and it did not end well.

Please Please leave me alone

John startes to chuckle. He stares at the wounds he made and gets a little freaked out. He runs out to Merediths old car. Meredith stupidly follows.

"No Meredith don't think about that." She accidentally says out loud. Another Intern looks at her and says "Think about what" This startles Meredith as she didn't realize the other intern was right there.

"oh um nothing. Christina Yang right?"

"Yep that's me"

" I'm meredith grey"

"Grey as in the Grey method?"

"That's my mom"

"Dang Ellis grey's daughter is my new friend"

"oh friends are we"

"oh yea definitely. you seem dark and i'm twisty. Perfect match"

Meredith smiles as her pager goes off and she heads towards the patients room. As she's walking there she sees Derek right in front of her. She taps his shoulder. He turns around and smiles.

"Oh hey Meredith"

"Hey where you headed?"

"To room 1513."

"Oh same! Were on the same case i guess."

"That's great. So are you caught up?"

"27 year old male. Has a brain tumor near his optic nerve. was discovered when he came in two months ago with stab wounds. Has a history of heart problems and his uncle also has a tumor near his optic nerve."

"Wow that's amazing. how did you remember all that?"

"I don't know i have a vivid memory."

They walk in and Merediths face goes white.

"Meredith" the patient says

"Dr.Grey to you " she says while trembling in fear. She looks at Derek who can tell something is off. Meredith runs out and throws up in a trash can. Derek runs after her and asks how she knows him.

"That is John, my husband"
